WBA to investigate Valuev/Holyfield fight

Heavy
comment on the article

The WBA is to investigate the Holyfield v Valuev fight and have ordered a panel of judges to review the tape.

I remember people on these boards questioning the decision at the time with some saying that Holyfield deserved to win.

What do you think the outcome of the investigation will be? Could we see a re-match between the pair?

Or do you think that in fact Valuev deserved his victory but not by the majority decision he was awarded?

With fights like this (not a great deal happenning) it is always going to be tough to score.
Having said that, I scored it to Holyfield by three rounds.
Had a few evens in there too; mostly for want of any action.
Valuev really wasn't doing anything effective.
Holyfield kept him away by moving. Evander was also the one instigating the attacks, few as they were.
We are used to dodgy decisions in that part of the world. I would think that an investigation into the entire scoring system in that part of the world would be more revealing than just taking this fight as an example; good example though it is.
Not a fight I will remember, but I had Holyfield regaining the HW championship at the end.
Valuev did not do enough to keep his title.

the judges were blinded by the fact that holyfield is no doubt old and way past his best, but the truth is he deserves a shot at doing whatever he wants, he is a man with a brain and a pulse and can choose to fight if he wants to, if a man is mentally, physically and medically fit then nobody has the right to deny him, he has always been the underdog his entire career anyway so it wont shock him anymore, but so many decisions have gone against him so many times, it must be so very frustrating time after time.if these people truly care so much for the mans health as they claim to why not let the right thing happen, give him an immediate rematch and if he wins the fight, give him the title belt and im 200 percent sure evander would immediately retire after the fight as the only 5 times heavyweight world champ, and then the belt would be relinquished and free for all the other bums in the division to scrap over.

when is this decision actually going to be made? the way things look, they have found something dodgy and are now deciding whether to act on it or not. It has been 7 weeks since the investigation was launched, what are they waiting for?

Have West Brom become so poor at football that they have decided to turn to boxing?

Why are they investigating?

Nice one Ellisethan.
The Baggies might sort it out quicker!

Indeed, though Mr. Mowbray's wretched demeanour is likely to ensure an equally dour contest.

Is there an update on this situation?

The last I checked the WBA didn't give a response, and have deleted the entire story from their website.
