I want to have a small vote amongst the 606 ers on chops. I think we could do with him but his high transfer fee and wages could be spent more wisely. Do you agree?? Or do you think it is money worth spent??

I would have thought Sunderland havent given us the full transfer fee yet. Therefore hopefully a deal can be done.

He hasnt hit top form but to say hes a shadow of the player he was is harsh. He missed some chances yesterday but still made the runs to get in position.

No he doesn't seem to be. I don't think it's him, I actually think because we've got more quality players since he was last here he doesn't stand out as much as he did before. Next to Bothroyd at the moment, bothroyd edges it for me, and ross mccormack does to, I mean I'd drop Chopra ahead of Jay and Ross.

danbluefan - i would also play Bothroyd and Rossco ahead of Chops at the moment, however a fully fit confident Chops would be a great addition to Cardiff so i hope we sign him as we have seen what he can do in the past!

p.s my xmas is now complete now my previous chops comments are on the bbc news article on chopra!!

The only reason he left was because Keane thought he would be more popular than him. All ex ManU players believe they should be number 1 in popularity stakes. Watch this space for former Man U players becoming managers. Even when Hughes talks about Robinho he speaks through his teeth, when he talks about Ireland he smiles. Not as big as Robinho!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The money would be better spent keeping the squad we've got, and pushing the boat out to get Routledge for good at a bargain price. Even if we pay half a million for him we could sell him on in the future for at least double that if we had to.

I'd like us to sign a player like the one Chops was two years ago - hungry and determined to prove himself.

Given his legendary status with the fans and the baggage he now brings with him I wonder whether Chops could ever meet expectations a second time around.

I love Chops but does anyone else thinks he looks the shadow of the player he was since he came back

-----

That's because he is a mediocre player, Championship level at best who had one good season where everything ran for him. Nobody at Newcastle rated him highly and neither do many at Sunderland, there is a reason for that.

If you can't get him on loan then don't bother because for one thing if you do go up then he will just be another highly paid substitute that you can't afford. You'd be much better off throwing a million at some up and coming striker from the lower leagues.

Craig Mackail-Smith from Peterborough or Scunthorpe's Paul Hayes would be potential options. Matty Fryatt would be ideal but I can't see Leicester taking less than £3m for them considering how important he is to getting them buck up again.

Give Chops a 'Sporting Chance' we'll swap you him for that Betty Ford character. I BET you he loves it down there, I Bet you he does.

Seriously though he hasn't set the world on fire up here. The goals he has scored for us are when he's been subbed at the end of games and is running against tired legs. So to surmise, you can have him as far as I'm concerned (we'll even throw in Daryl Murphy and Rade Prica as sweeteners) but here's one for all you fantasists down there 'keep your grubby mitts of Cisse and Jones'winkeye.

How many goals per games has he got down there this time?

His record is not that great over all because most of his 22 (17) I believe came in the first half of the season before we signed him from you. Once defenders got to see him they had his measure. I think he is an ok player. I like his attitude but if you lads down there are unconvinced about him then this augers badly coming back to us a division higher.
