Mike Ashley, Owner of Newcastle United Football Club, today announced that the football club has been taken off the market. Speaking in the club's match day magazine he announced today's news and that he was committing to the club as its Owner.
The club had retained Keith Harris from Seymour Pierce to look at interested parties and there has been considerable interest over the last two months. However, Mike Ashley has decided to end the current uncertainty now to allow the club to continue to progress under the new management team led by Joe Kinnear.
Mike Ashley, Owner of Newcastle Footballl Club, said:
"I am happy to end the uncertainty fans may have had about the future direction of Newcastle United.
"I know just how important that is to you.(www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk)

So this breaking news is very interesting indeed, does this mean that Mike Ashley couldn’t find a buyer worthy of considering accepting a bid from or has he decided to continue his tenure as owner regardless of the anger shown by the Toon Army towards him? What do the fans make of this news?

Where has all this lunacy about him 'getting rid' of the debt come from?
He simply guaranteed the debt so that instead of owing the banks, we owe him. The debt was going to be financed by him selling the club for his original purchase price plus £80 million. His company is now effectively worth nothing such is the devaluation of his hyped shares. He's staying because he can't afford to sell us. He has no money whatsoever, any purchases we make will be based on sales.

Great timing from Ashley. Liverpool simply confirmed today what of piece of junk he is trying to off load for a ludicrous amount.

No sooner is Ashley back and Newcastle loses big. Coincidence - I dont think so. Let's see Ashley commit to the club when they are relegated. Ashley is a cancer frestering in the club - needs to be be cut out and rid of for ever.

The only reason why he has come out with this is because you cannot sell a club like newcastle utd in a recession because everyone is not going to be making much money and he needs to cut his losses and by selling newcastle utd that would be a big help but the fact is that nobody in their right mind would want to buy a football club at this time so he is trying to look as though he is commited to newcastle utd when in fact he just cant find a buyer.

So Ashley's back to give it another crack. Okay Mike, do the job properly and we'll give you another chance, but please don't insult us with more phony and empty promises. the team / squad / club's in a complete mess. You.ve got to spend some cash. If you're gonna talk the talk, walk the walk or get oota toon. You're as bad as Shepherd

London swede et al. This geezer, Ashley, bought NUFC with the sole intention of selling it on and making a massive profit for himself. Unfortunately for him however, the current economic situation kicked in and now he can't sell the club, which leaves us with another cowboy chairman who doesn't know how to run a football club.

NUFC has massive potential, it's just that we always end up with with people like Shepherd at the helm who basically can't do the job, but expect to make huge sums of money for themselves by exploiting the people who support the club. Shepherd walked away from NUFC with about 30 or 40 million quid. For what? All Shepherd ever did for NUFC ( along with Hall jnr ) was ruin it's reputation and damage the product almost beyond repair.

We've got a stadium that holds crowds of over 52.000 fans on a regular basis, we normally have more season ticket holders than Anfield's current capacity of 45,362, yet we can't even compete away from home at places such as Wigan who can only get crowds of around 20,266 at home on Boxing day when they are on a great run of form.

Is Ashley the right man to put NUFC in the position that a club of it's size should be? No he isn't. So why is he here? To exploit NUFC and try to make some major cash at our expense. Greedy cowboy chairman just like Fat Freddy Shepherd.

Newcastle could be a successful club, but like anybody else who is, we need people running the club who have intellect, integrity and desire, coupled with just a little bit of luck. Nobody won nowt without it..

So... I guess this means the supporters protests will be kicked up a gear at the end of the season? Hit him in the pocket is what I say. It's all he cares about.

Ashley is such a fool. He thinks that the fans have actually forgiven him! Pathetic.

Mike would have only sold out if he had been offered mega money for it and he could walk away with millions. He’s a businessman so why would he want to break even or lose money. Every manager that has been in there has spent big and just look at what there is to show for it, nothing.

Bobby is the only manager I have respected and he should have stayed on in one form or another after he was mistakenly sacked. If he had stayed on as a football director Newcastle would not have been where it is today.

Newcastle Utd was in a huge mess before Mike took over and it still is; it’s light years away from the top four. Mike at least stabilised a sinking ship or slowed it down, but he didn’t help himself by taking the huff when Keegan left ‘again’ and didn’t face the fans. I thought he was a tough businessman. I am sure there are worse thugs in the financial world.

Since he has decided to stay, he should find a decent manager and not a puppet manager, give him time and of course money. There is no quick way out of this mess unless he is willing to sanction a huge spending spree and then you still have get top players to come and play at Newcastle.

Come on newcastle fans most of you live in cloud cuckoo land thinking we are bigger than what we are. Our club will not compete with the big four unless we have patience and the way some of you behave at the ground is disgusting, you are the route of the problem you all love kevin keegan so much leave with the gutless wonder all he does is walk away. We had a good manager in allardyce and you ruined that he had a club in ruins passed to him, it was our club with the bad track record not the manager and you blame it on the staff as per usual do you really think it helps. Even man city with all their money wont get any where for 4 years at least.

We need a base to build and that takes time and a good youth system, not throwing good money after bad on medicore players that want to use us as a stepping stone, its time we took our seats and let our club grow respectfully.
