Owen to United?

Manchester United

I think United could do with a player who puts the ball in the net. Our main problem this season has been finishing chances. Last season we got away with it as Ronny was doing the business but this season he hasn't been scoring quite as regular (still got a good amount of goals though). Perhaps with the arrival of Berbatov, Ronaldo has been forced out wide a bit more and no longer seems to have the free role.

I think a player that would be great would be Michael Owen. I know he's injury prone but I feel he would be worth the gamble for the games when we are struggling to find the net, E.g. Sunderland & Spurs in the last month.

Whilst I'm talking about strikers, I think Berbatov has been ok for us so far. He hasn't set the world alight but he's only had 3-4 months at United. I firmly believe we will see the best of him next season and also reckon he is forging a good partnership with Rooney. I don't go along with this notion of him being lazy, I just think it's his style just like Cantona. I think we should look at the positives from him so far, E.g. that piece of skill against West Ham where he set up Ronaldo.

I also feel sorry for Tevez who was magnificant last year. I hope we keep hold of him. I can understand why Fergie hasn't been playing as regular as he wants Berbatov & Rooney to form an understanding but as the games come thick and fast after Christmas, Tevez will have a big part to play.

United have a massive squad, and many young players on the verge of coming through. There's no point buying anyone else as there's only 11 places on the pitch! The fact that fergie splashed so much cash last year and this year on berbatov, im not surprised we wont be buying in january.

No need for new players, if we won the league with this set we can do it again.

I think if we were to buy anyone it would be that Manso that plays for Liga Deportiva from the final in japan. He was testing Van Der Sar alot and our defence throughout the game when he was fed the ball. He also picks a nice accurate pass & I don't think Man Utd have a good Centre Attacking Midfielder apart from Scholes

Enjoy these wonderful days Man Utd fans because when Ferdinand loses a yard of pace and Ronaldo gets some sun in Madrid, Fergie will kop out sooner not later, then it's time for the WENGER BOYs yikes

I think there is a case to be made that another winger to United would be beneficial. Nani has not performed to the expected level and Park is not an offensive threat. With that being said, however, I feel that Ferguson is right not to buy in January. Jauary is not an easy time to buy. It is too short a period and thus can lead to overly expenise, rushed purchases. United has a terrific squad at the moment. One that should win the league, as well as numerous other honours this season. It would be difficult to improve such a deep and talented squad.

It's good news.

What with being world club champions, current english and european champions, within touching distance of the top of the table, still in champions league, and not having to risk the stability of a huge squad by buying in some you-tube fancies.

happy man utd christmas everyone!

Owen may be worth a punt as a free transfer at the end of the season (when the status of Tevez will become clearer) but not now.

Also, I'm sorry but as a Man Utd Fan i worry about the inclusion to our squad that Berbatov has made. I especially resent any comparison to our beloved Cantona.

Cantona, was similar to Berbatov as a player but they were very different men. Cantona enjoyed being an inspiration to the young players like Beckham, Nevilles, Scholes, Giggs and Butt. He was often the 1st man at training and the last man to leave.

He instilled a legacy for greatness that can still be seen in the players today (some of whom never played with him.)

Berbatov on the other hand does not possess those inspirational type qualities that Cantona had. Don't get me wrong i like him as a player but had my doubts before we signed him and they have been confirmed. He slows down the speed of our attacks and doesn't run the channels. This doesn't mean he is lazy, it just means that he does not allow for our fluid forward interchangeable movements of last season. It was this play that allowed Ronaldo to score all those goals.

Also he at the moment compared to Tevez is undroppable. If SAF were to give him some bench time it would clearly upset him and possibly ruin his relationship with the manager. However because we currently don't own Tevez his happiness is not as essential as Berbatov. I still think there is another reason why we have not signed him yet.

SAF has learnt from the mistakes of the past that you must continuely reinvent your teams style of play, i just think what ever extra edge Berbatov brings to the side he has also takenn a lot away from the team as well.
