Transfer window hopes and fears

Portsmouth

Hello

We're putting together our January transfer window guide and wanted to get the thoughts of the Portsmouth fans.

Looks like it could be a nervous time for Pompey. Which players are you desperate to hang on to? Are there any players you would be happy to see leave? And if Tony Adams is given any money to spend, what is the squad lacking?

Look forward to hearing from you.

Here's how i would like to see things go (first team):
Outs:
Diarra- 18million
Defoe?- 15million
Campbell?- 5million

Total: 38million

Ins:
Henry?- 9million
Vierra- 5million
Traore- 6million
Belhadj- 3.5million
New Winger- 10million
(We may also need a new CB)

Total: 33.5million

That would leave us with a profit of 3.5million to add on to our excisting transfer budget which we apparently already have, according to TA. This would mean we could bring in the likes of Ledley, Delph and these two from Feyenoord (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luigi_Bruins & http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georginio_Wijnaldum) both are very young, and we have close connections with the club through Metgod. These move could all be funded by selling squad players like Lauren and Traore. Also, making Belhadj and Traore permeant (and Sahar returning) gives us three more loan spots, maybe players from the top-four teams. There is also a younger striker from Bolivia, who i have done some research into. His name is Marcelo Moreno and he plays for Shakhtar Donetsk. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcelo_Moreno I'm not sure what 9 million euros is in pounds but he may be worth a shot! Plus he has a pretty cool celebration (I can't post youtube links for some reason, but just search his name)

Rumour has it we're after a couple of top midfielders and a new centre back, goalkeeper and left sided defender...

We have been spoilt over the last few years in football terms
its alays great to dream big but reality always kicks in..just depends when you wake up..
with 20 million from Diara ,it shows negotiation is the key to success, get the same guy who negotiated that deal to buy the next ,hes a diamond !!!
In the championship i am sure there is a great centrehalf somewhere to shore up the defence
lets be positive at the start of the second half of this season we will start @ 10th place ...we started the season equal so we aint doing as bad as everyone makes out ....we will finish a happy 8th.....

I think most of us understand Defoe has gone....probably Villa or City.
He hasn't wanted to play for the club since Harry left, I think a couple of others feel like that too!
My concern though is Adams, not the players, even if we lost a couple and brought in a couple of loan deals, we still have a good enough squad to stay up, but do we have the Manager with the motivation and ideas to inspire the team? I think not....along with most of the team dressing room. Do we agree?

yep - the concern is Adams. Dont get me wrong, i like the idea of young English managers but when you have a team of experienced internationals you need a manager to lift them.

Ins: Appiah or Delph

Outs: Defoe & Johnson & hopefully Adams

New manager would be the best thing for Pompey

My main concern for Pompey is that without Harry Redknapp, players won't be as tempted to come play for us. Tony Adams is very unexperienced when it comes to the transfer window. What he needs is a better version to Newcastles Dennis Wise. A director of football who can help push adams in the right direction.

Selling Diarra and Defoe at a profit of what we bought them could work very much in our favour. With the Pompey squad lacking a fair amount of depth at the back, and we could use a new fast striker. I am also hoping that now defoe has left, we might be able to use our 7 million pound striker Nugent!

Just when I thought, with Diop injured for 3 months, that we would begin to improve our position in the fair play league, it looks as though we are going to sign Joey Barton !! Mind you, he could be just what we need in midfield, if he can stay on the pitch long enough
