Fu or Murphy?

Just under a couple of hours away from the second biggest final of the snooker season. Obviously hoping for a good entertaining game and that both players have their potting boots on. I'm personally going for Fu - looks really focused, superb temperament and is scoring heavily - when he gets into winning positions seems to get over the line convincingly rather than 'stumbling' over it. No doubt if Murphy's attacking game is on song he will take a lot of stopping, but for one of such talent, perhaps lacks a bit of killer instinct? Has a good temperament, but I feel sometimes makes a silly mistake when you least expect it? I go 10-7 Fu.

It could have gone either way and both were playing some excellent (and some poor) snooker. However, to have won it (or lost it) on a fluke was very tough. And then to seal it on another fluke was even worse. Other than that - great match. Fu's time will come.

To be fair Fu had some good run of the ball earlier in the match also.

What I really admired is how gracious Fu was after losing this way. All praise Marco, great personality.

And the match may not have been top quality ... but what a thriller!
Congrats to both!

Wow. What a great final. The playing was not the best I've seen, but just for sheer tension and excitement (and keeping me up until 12.30am), one of the classic snooker finals.

Just goes to show - the old adage is just as applicable to snooker as to football - the best players know how to win even when they are playing badly.

Murphy has been on a shocking run of form this year, and to win a scrappy, untidy match in such a manenr showed a determination not to simply liedown and accept second best. All credit to Fu, he played his part just as well, and my comments could just as easily apply to him, but lady Luck smiled on Shaun Murphy last night, and it was gripping to see.

A great final, yes Murphy did have some luck, not all good though. In those last "see-saw" frames I seem to remember two separate long pots in particular, a slow roll up to a red into the left pocket that produced an "massive" kick and a miss and then the brilliant red into the same pocket where a series of small cannons resulted in a fouled black into the left pocket - with all reds open both were good frame winning chances and drew amazed comments from the commentators.
Also there was a brief close up of a clear Fu foul on the green when escaping a Murphy snooker which went unnoticed by the referee and apparently both players. So perhaps justice was served.

Sorry, but those moaning that Fu lost because Murphy fluked match ball need to grow up. If Murphy hadn't gone in-off from deflecting off the black in the twelfth frame, he would probably have taken a 7-5 lead and the result would likely have been the same but a slightly less close scoreline. It all evens out, and Fu couldn't care less that the match pot was a fluke, he's just disappointed with the way he played.

Considering how Murphy practically dominated, 10-9 is a very respectable scoreline indeed.
