Well, we all knew it was on the cards. I would like to point out that I was the one who first pointed out that Glamorgan were in talks with Kruger.

What are peoples thoughts on the signing?

(a) How he will benefit Glamorgan?

(b) The fact that he is a Kolpak!!!

Personally, I feel that there are a lot of better bowlers around.

He seems like a decent player from what I have seen, something a little different from our current bowlers. He isn't the key addition we had hoped for but then maybe there is something else in the pipeline.

As for the Kolpak thing, I don't mind us signing a few, as long as we don't go overboard, for one thing these players tend to move around a lot more than the british lads do and having too many potentially short term plyers in the squad can be disruptive. I would say as long as we keep to around 4 or 5 Kolpak/Overseas players in total then that should be a decent balance. I would love to see Gibbs, Cosgrove and a top fast bowler in the side regardless of nationlity. If Kruger can help suppot that s well then good.

Phil, we all share the same passion for this.

Dont deny yourself something you get great pleasure out of following.

This will not open the floodgates and I am sure that we will still have a strong Welsh identity and we will go on full steam ahead trying to produce local players who are good enough to play at this level.

Respect the fact that all MPM is trying to do is make us a better and more competitive side.

Happy Christmas.

The main point is that the younger / Academy players are not yet ready for 1st Class cricket -there is an "era" gap because of lack of investment over many years. The Kolpacs are a short term necesssary evil as the lads develop. Gibbs was a massive dressing room influence and the youngsters should benefit if they REALLY want to make it at CC.

I really do not like this lad, he thinks he's all it.

I was at a Derbyshire Vs Nottinghamshire matchand a Notts young fan asked for his autograph and he just brushed the kid of like he was a piece of dirt.

For that reason alone I have no respect for him.

Leicestershire v Derby perhaps?
Anyway, I don' think he's any better than what we've already got. A waste of money, and a bad way to lose our ""Kolpak virginity.
