I am impress the number of players develop into pro from Northern Ireland in last two years, for example before MacDowell became pro there was only Darren Clarke playing against the the world class players.
Now in Golf World from Northern Ireland are: Clarke, McDowell, McIiroy, Maybin, Hoey and Caldwell that is 6 pro golfer! when is last time do we (Northern Irish) have six Northern Irish Golfers play same time?

Could be Gungla, could be. They must get to play up until 11-11.30 in Sweden.

Its great...........pity about 20 places at the Masters are taken up by previous winners who are no longer competitive.........i for one would prefer to watch someone not currently qualified like Darren Clarke than Charles Coody, Gary Player, Sandy Lyle etc etc

Limerick,
DC knows the score. Two solutions:
1).He rediscovers his form from his two wins of 2008.

2).Ireland start an elite tournament to which they can invite who they like. Player and Lyle wouldn't necessarily be eligible. (I think Charlie Coody has called it a day . . . )

Appreciate yr frustration Limerick, but it's their gig and I kinda like the way they honour previous winners - though Gary Player's act is wearing especially thin.

Much as I'd have loved DC to win a major, I think he's destined to be another Monty.

There are no similatrities between Clarke and Montgomerie, other than no majors bewteen them.

Clarke has not achieved half of what Montgomerie has.

Clarke has won two WGC events, Monty has never managed that. So clarke has potentially achieved a bigger win than Monty.

I accept that overall Monty has achieved more but they both had (have?) the potential to win a major.

I still hope DC will win one. And Monty for that matter. But I wouldn't bet much on either.

Kwiniaskagolfer..........Augusta sure do put on a great tornament and its great that past champs are asked back.............but there should be a rule where the past champ must be a member of the Worlds Top 600 or so..........by all means invite Player, Mize, Coody etc etc, but invite them as guests for the week, not as competitors..........No one wants to see a great like G.Player hitting 3 woods to Par 4's that are designed to be hit with a 5 or 6 iron.........

I think that past champ invite rule is wearing thin on all majors and Sandy Lyle's tantrum at the Open last year just put the icing on it for me.
