Lassana Diarra to Madrid

Premier League Portsmouth

comment on the article

Media reports state that Lassana Diarra will move to Real Madrid after Pompey accepted a bid of around 20 million pounds. For a 23 year old player who played just 23 Premier League games and cost 5 million pounds this must seem like a major profit reminicent of the deal that took Sulley Muntari to Inter Milan.
Any thoughts on this transfer and how do Arsenal fans feel? Was there a sell on percentage in his contract?

Maybe he doesn't have the bottle to play for the World Champions, so would prefer to play for a team fighting hard to get a Uefa Cup place for next season.

Why is it so hard to believe that someone could prefer Real to United?most players would jump at the chance to play for the club of Puskas,Gento,Di Stefano,Kopa,Didi,Hugo Sanchez etc.A club rich in history and titles.A club your much vaunted no 7 was so desperate to join in the summer and where he most certainly will end up.Ferguson just has to,as he has done successfully enough in the past, know when to let him go!

im sure Diarra was a good bit of business for Pompey but if he is such a good player why have Chelsea / Arsenal both let him move on. Perhaps there were people gettin the nod in front of him that may happen again once his name sake is fully fit at Real

so they have to make do with buying from the 2nd rate basket the likes of Ferdinand Vidic Nani Anderson Berbatov Carrick, bring in youngsters nobody has heard of such as Rafael Possebon Evans Welbeck, or renew contracts of finished pensioners and have-beens ie. VDS Neville Scholes and Giggs.

----------------------------------------------

The majority of these '2nd rate' players would waltz into Madrid's side. Diarra would not get anywhere near United's team, and Madrid have spent a quite unbelievable £20 million on him.

I'm sure Ronaldo will end up at Madrid, they're a big club but at the moment can only be viewed as a step down from United. And lets be honest, if they're willing to pay £20 million for mediocrity like Diarra, what price the best player in the world? Start the bidding at £100 million Mr Calderon.

He is a disruptive influence and to get 20 million fronm him is brilliant for Pompey and Arsenal get a cut. He'll soon be sulking and destroying team spirit, just give him time to learn Spanish.

great business from portsmouth, though it leaves you wondering, could arsenal have put up more of a fight to keep him a year ago? he seems exactly the sort of player they are crying out for at the moment. ofcourse, at the time when they sold him to pompey, flamini was having an awesom season, and arsenal presumably considered diarra surplus to requirements. if i were wenger, i'd have kept diarra and offloaded diaby or song to portsmouth, and made diarra feel he had a better chance of getting in the team

£20 Million for Diarra? O.M.G, Real are dizzy. Pompey must be dancing in delight.
