Problem with TDf is the durg use.

At least we know the olympians are going to be relativlely clean.

OK TDf got its act together a bit this year but it is still terribly tainted and I think that is why Cav didn't get the recognition. Not that Cav is a cheat but that the TDF has been tainted by it.

A cynic may say that Cav did so well because the rest didn't have their drug props like they had in other years.

HaHa describing Chris Hoy as a part time cyclist.... what a pile of cow dung. Constant work for 4 years; switching events after his got removed from the Olympics, preparing for all the worlds and the Olympics and finally succeeding. Do not comment on what you do not know.

I didn't like the sports personality of the year this year. I accept and congratulate that the olympic atheltes did exceptionally well in Bejing but i also feel that this years awards was just another ceremony for them, what about lewis hamilton becoming the youngest F1 champion in history, or andy murray beating the top two tennis players in the world this year and also reaching the US open final. nearly all the awards went to olympic atheltes this year. In my opinion other people achieved just the same if not better in their respective fields but the coverage on olympics is just a lot higher

Compare the achievements of the top three this year:

Chris Hoy is the first Briton to win three gold medals in a single Olympic games in 100 years, and is now the WORLDS most successful Olympic male cyclist of ALL TIME.

Lewis Hamilton is the 9th Briton to become Formula One World Champion (after Damon Hill, 12 years ago), and is now the youngest ever Formula One World Champion.

Rebecca Adlington is one of four Britons to win two gold medals in a single Olympic games, and is now Great Britain's most successful Olympic swimmer in 100 years.

Looks like the right person won this year IMHO, and I've been an F1 fan since before Jackie Stewart won his third Formula One World Championship...

Adlington was 10 times more impressive than Hoy. She had acutal competition.

The right man won!

In case any of you were in any doubt, i ahev to say that actually being in the liverpool arena on the night of the event dispelled any doubt for me. When the dress rehearsals were underway, hoy received by far and away the most "public" support in the arena. i also, believe that lewis would have done better had he actually been in the arena prior to his entrance, as was the case with hoy.

p.s. I did indeed vote for Nicole Cooke, but was equally please with the outcome being a cyclist.....

Maybe you should have a look a the Training Chris Hoy had to do.

He is certainly not Part time. Give Chris some respect.

I heard Chris being called a "jumped up cycle courier" by a commentator on BBC 5live Fighting Talk,that should know better.
