Youngest ever WRC?

Rallying
comment on the article

One of the youngest entries ever to the Wales GB Rally, and he managed to finish 30th, well done lad.
Are we looking at Rallying's answer to Lewis?

P.S. Well done to Valentino Rossi for bringing it home 12th.

Paddy Hopkirk
Richard Burns
Colin McRae
I don't think any of the above can be considered a joke.

British drivers a joke? How dare you!

Britain has produced the greatest ever rally driver in Colin McRae.

HAAAAAHAHA are you professional comedians?

Greatest drivers for what for winning 1 WDC or so? Comparing the ones above with the real Scandinavian/French legends who have defined rally driving is like comparing Schumacher or Fangio to cr@ppy Hill or something!

The moment these 2 (may god rest their souls in peace) faced some proper teammates at Peugeot/Citroen they were EMBARRASSED!

British drivers are only good at one thing: PR and hyping themselves up.

But I know - from the moment there are no British drivers in it people here don't seem to care about rallying any more. And you have to search real hard to find an article on bbc sport. Even when at the minute history is being rewritten.-

Paddy Hopkirk is an Irishman and should not be confused as a "British" driver, he certainly isn't.
However, Roger Clark and Tony Pond were both capable drivers who missed out because there are not enough British manufacturers in rallying to support the wealth of talent.
After all, Loeb is lucky the French still have Citroen to employ him or he could go the same way as many drivers who miss their opportunity.
That isn't a criticism of Loeb in any way, a driver I admire for his unquestioned ability, but as we all know, right place at the right time is critical.
Historically one would have expected a Scandanavian to have achieved what Loeb has, not a Frenchman.
To pretend that any nation is incapable of producing a top line performer in most sports just shows lamentable ignorance.

McRae the most famous rally driver ever. A then record of 25 WRC wins and World Champion along with Burnsy. Hyping themselves up?

Scandanavian's produce better drivers because they do just that...they produce the next generation of drivers. It is a tradition for the big names to sponser an on the up driver.
For this reason, the UK doesn't produce the quantity of top class drivers but the ones that do make it are certainly as good quaility.
Most armchair critics whom post comments as I have seen in this thread, really don't realise how expensive motorsport is and without major backing it is not possible to get into.
As an example, I am looking to put my daughter into the SaxMax series which is one of the cheapest for 14 to 17 year olds. The series is run using stock Saxo 1997/98 VTR's which can be purchased for £1000 but then you need to spend £4000 on race prep not to mention the £5000 expenses needed to run in the season.
Who will be shelling out this £10,000....me and if she isn't spotted and given a deal for after that then it will be just three years of fun stories to tell her kids and her racing career will be over before it began.
Rant over!!

I cannot believe that someone has the balls to say that about the rally legend the late Colin McRae.

I would rather stand on a stage watching McRae about ten times as much as I would Loeb.

People should realise the level of talent that Seba Loeb has. This is Schumacher level commitment and driving that we see in an event which is far more difficult and technical than F1.. its history taking place
