Why Chelsea will go back top this weekend

Only a point seperates Chelsea from going top, and after a dispoointing loss to our rivals Arsenal, I'm sure the team will be looking to bounce back. Chelsea generally don't lose back to back games and I can't see us leaving Manchester with any less than 3 points. Bolton are on form, but we will bring them back down from dreamland and into reality this weekend.

Chelsea have a 100% record, which we will be looking to maintain for the duration of the season.

Things do not look good for our title hopes in the log term, as no team has ever won the league, without beating at least 1 of their nearest rivals (position-wise) at home. I guess we'll just have to break that record. I'm tipping us to make a statement and beat Bolton 4-0

Liverpool sit above us, for now, but I think they have a much tougher game (in reality) than we do. Blackburn have not got the points they deserve under Ince and sit in a dangerous position, unlike Bolton, Blackburn desperately need the win and have a point to prove. Liverpool have done well on the road and I feel they still have too much quality be turned over by Blackburn, but I still feel they will drop points at Ewood Park, and it could be the turning point in Blackbun's season. Ince has a point to prove and his job is virtually on the line, no better way to make a statement than by beating the team that is currently top of the league. I'm going for a 1-1, but I expect all the decisions to go Liverpool's way.

As for Man U, they couldn't be playing Sunderland at a better time, with Keanes departure, Sunderland will be rattled and dejected, I'm expecting United to make a real statament of Intent, and thump Sunderland 5-1.

Arsenal play Wigan, and will be looking to take maximum points until at least New Year, they will try to build on the victory at the Bridge and start gaining momentum in the title race ahead of their crucial game against Liverpool, I also expect Arsenal to win comfortably 2-0 or 3-1.

I'm expecting none of the top 4 to lose, but Chelsea to return top (where we should be) and Arsenal and Man U to start gaining momentum in the title race. I'm tipping a bad December for Liverpool, but for them to bounce back in January.

You have hit the nail on the head.Liverpool fans are not sure even if they deserve to be where the are holding fort. They got there by sheer decisions and lucky last gasp wins which has seemingly dried up of late.Having qualified for the next level of CL,they would want to field a relatively weak team. That would be their ondoing.
Man Utd ,I think will not have an easy ride contrary to what people think.Arrogant Ronaldo is banned and Sunderland has a point to prove.
Chelsea back at the Summit and then,we concentrate on the CL on Tuesday.

You think only Liverpool fans stick with their team?
I have followed Chelsea for 50 years through some very lean years and so have many others. We have waited a long time to be competitive and now we are!

Concur, have been a Blue for forty years and have suffered much pain, was recalling those dark days of late 70s & 80swhen we were fighting to stay in Div 2, throwing money in buckets at games to keep the club alive etc. Just seems we're now spoilt & have such high expectations so the pain of defeat seems harder to take. Carefree........

Liverpool won't have any trouble against Blackburn... so no, we won't go back to the top.

I disagree with you, Blackburn will almost certainly have to win that game, will Blackburn beat Liverpool? No. But I can see Liverpools luck turning against them and Villanueva getting a last minute equaliser. We concetnrate on winning our games and it is only a matter of time before Liverpool wet their pants under the pressure of reserving 1st place for us.

I hold my hands up and admit I was wrong. <blush>

Liverpool have proved me wrong yet again.

But I am 120% sure they will drop points to either Hull or Arsenal in their next two games.

I'm not too bothered, we beat West Ham and Everton, we go top!

You have an advantage as you play before us in our next two games (yet again)

As soon as the final whistle went at Blackburn Chelsea were 4 points behind with a game in hand, which is why they were saying Chelsea won;t go top as it was a mathematical impossibility.
