Real Buy "The Hunter"

comment on the article

Real Madrid have made a deal to transfer Klass Jan Huntelaar in January for a reported £20 million, in order to replace the injured RVN.

As one of those who were advocating that we buy "The Hunter" last summer - and he was eager to join us - I will be interested in seeing how he performs outside of Holland.

Have we missed a trick here?

Having seen him play week in week out here in the Netherlands,he looks quite good. The Dutch here think he's a carbon copy replacement for RVN in the Dutch side as well as in Real.I think he'll do well in Spain,or any league for that sakes.Although equalling RVN's goal scoring record will take some doing!

Raśl went to Madrid at 16 years of age, the same age Fabregas had when he moved to Arsenal. I suppose that he was also "poached" then...
I always thought that Huntelaar was an excellent striker, and that he was the perfect player for Madrid... an ideal "9", unlike Higuain who comes more from behind.
However, that team“s problems are mainly defensive. Madrid usually has no problem scoring goals, but at the same time receives too many goals (despite Casillas!).

He looks a good player, albeit in the Dutch league where even Alfonso Alves scored goals, so it'll be interesting to see how he does in Spain. Lets be honest though, £20-23 million seems a bit excessive for a half-season replacement. They didn't show any signs of interest before Van Nistelrooy got injured.

Yes Fabregas was poached from Barca by Arsenal, although it seemed Barca didnt realise how truely talented he was & never took any noticed of him or arsenals approach, just like Man Utd also poached Gerard Pique off Barca, who have subsequently bought him back?!

its the way of modern football these days, all teams try to poach & steal other teams best young starlets?! Not wrong with that, but just stating thats the way that its done nowadays?!

Is it true that Man City tried to jump in and hijack the move to Madrid with a 30 mil offer and he turned it down by saying "sorry wrong Manchester club"???

I heard talk there was a 40 million euro bid from City last summer, but I think the bid was rejected, also if it was accepted, Huntelaar prob would have refused to play for City.

Anyways, the comparisons with players like Kuyt and Alves are ridiculous. Holland produces sometimes strikers who score a lot, but are incapable of making it on a higher level (like also Kezman). Alves never looked as solid as Huntelaar, who is the more clever and refined player. Saying the Dutch league is an easy league might be true, but scoring so many goals for Ajax is quite hard actually. An Ajax striker has to worry about more then scoring a lot of goals. I think at Ajax he became a better point player and more technical refined, however, it is not his strong side. He is a fantastic positioner, something Kuyt and Alves both lack. I seriously wonder how many matches people saw from Huntelaar and Kuyt to compare those two players.

Furthermore, there have been plenty of interest, but no one dared to gamble, cause it was wellknown the price would be high. Several teams scouted him for long periods, but also thanks to his excellent loyalty (for an ajax player it was) he was only going to leave for top teams.

I think Huntelaar will be fine when given time. don`t expect mind numbling solo's, but with his ability to position well and score from all angles with little room, he will surely get his goals, especially for a team which has no trouble creating chances.

Lets not say Real poaches players away either, like said before, thats how football works, the EPL became the strongest league that way. Teams like Real do it with Ajax, we do it with Groningen and Groningen does it to Scandinavia. Football is all about the money, the bench of Chelsea would probably walk in the first team and salarywise, the benched players earn more together then all Ajax squad players combined probably. It kinda sucks since in this way some great players can`t be enjoyed on the field, but players can choose for that if they want.

Anyways, my best wishes to Huntelaar at Madrid. (even though i prefer Barca)
