I guess i got carried away, but 3 0-0 at home to opposition that set up for a point, and we cant break them down...draws screwed us last season and they are screwing us this season. Where was the running in behind, the clever 1-2s.....nothing it was play in front rubbish football.

If Liverpool really wants to the title race, then on nights like that Benitez is going to have to be more adventurous with his substitutions.
If you want to win, you have to bring on strikers, in place of midfielders, or defenders. It is no value simply replacing a striker for a striker, a winger for a winger, or a midfielder for a midfielder. Bringing forward players off as Benitez did is a holding pattern tactic.
Ironically, bringing on another striker for a defender is a good move, because although it creates risk at the back, thats exactly when you are more likely to score, on the counter, after Westham have gone forward.
With the defensive way Liverpool played, Westham were never going to have a crack, and Benitez did nothing to offer them encouragement.

Would Man U Chelsea or Arsenal like to be top now or not? We are top without putting in many top performances.

---------------------------------------------

Do Liverpool have another gear to go into though? I don't see any evidence of it judged on performances like that. As a United fan, obviously i'd prefer to be in Liverpool's position but considering how badly we've played so far this season in many games, to be only 6 points with a game in hand is a good position to be in considering. A lot of people can't see Liverpool being able to hang in the title race, and performances like last night only emphasise why. If Gerrard can't pull a result out himself, or sometimes Torres, Liverpool don't seem to win.

Quote "Yes its a little worrying when Man U start bagging wins they don't deserve (at Eastlands)"

I think anyone in their right mind would have to admit that Man Utd totally dominated City at the weekend and deserved the result, unless you are deluding yourself of course... winkeye

Actually i disagree , Fletcher sud of been sent of and so sud of Ronaldo earlier on for his gesture towards the referee which got Rooney sent of a while back , with City having 11 vs 9 they wud of bagged in some goals. So yes it was undeserved

You Know We have another gear or two, we have shown it this season, but unfortunatley not enough times.

were you suggesting we didnt have another gear when we beat you?
or Chelsea?

Nope didnt think so.

The only people who can be concerned here are the True fans of Football - Liverpool Supporters.

It Always comes back to the same thing, If we are where we are, and we are Sooooo bad.
Then for any team below us, to this date in the season - You must be Worse.
because who has the most points - US.

Equaly
The concern for me is when we dont seem to take advantage of a situation, and this was a lost oportunity to go 3 points clear.

Without showing any dissrespect to West ham, We should have won, and didnt.
We will have to play Manu once, CFC once & Arsenal twice, and any points lead we may have, you want in reserve just in case we lose any of these matches.
but teams seem much closer this year, and it is still wide open.

The Owen situation, well if we buy him, where would he fit in the squad?

Also,
If we bought Heskey, same again where would he go?

You would have to drop players like Kuyt,Keane & Torres

We need to concentrate on fullbacks, because at the moment Degen & Dossena have both let us down, and I still question the sale of Riise to have brough either of these players in - sometimes Benitez likes to take a chance and it doesnt pay off.

I feel we need a player who can dance round the ball like Robinho, who brings a different dimension to a game.
Manu have Ronaldo
CFC have Deco
Arsenal have - well Arsenal.
I would say an on form Babble is the closest we have.
Prior to that was of course Louis Garsia(forgive the spelling).

We dont need any more - workers in the team, this restricts you dimensions of play ability.

We need a 2 footed, crazy legged player with loads of ability & confidence, But I would also go for Abonginor (spelling) who is a better Villa option for us than Barry.

"If Owen or Heskey is brought back to Liverpool, I will stop supporting the Reds!"

Evidence of the rubbish comments and supporters in this thread. Short of Liverpool declaring they'll be making regular donations to the BNP, NOTHING would stop me supporting Liverpool.

And all of you moaning we shouldn't have sold Crouch or Riise, get over it! The former didn't allow Torres to be his best and wasn't happy being backup. The latter had clearly lost his motivation for the game at Liverpool and was dire in his last season for us.

I agree we need a player who can take on defenders but I actually feel Babel has shown himself to be pretty cack at it, he always gets it stuck under his feet and seems stunned when defenders are actually good/strong enough to get a tackle in. Torres is obviously the LFC King at rounding his man, but Gerrard and Benayoun are still better than Babel at it!

So, neither could your lot beat the hammers, at least we didn't concede a goal - as you did.
