So the finalists for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year have finally been announced.

The list (which was remarkably similar to that which 606 members chose) is as follows (in alphabetical order)

Rebecca Addlington
Ben Ainslie
Joe Calzaghe
Nicole Cooke
Lewis Hamilton
Chris Hoy
Andy Murray
Christine Ohuruogu
Rebecca Romero
Bradley Wiggins

If you want to post one name, I will again keep a running total and see if 606 members will pick the same top 3 as the general public. Please no comments, just names.

There are so many deleted comments because of the stupid comments being made.

Our PE Department conducted a poll amongst 500 boys at SMC in Edinburgh and Chris Hoy was a clear favourite gaining 221 votes with Lewis Hamilton gaining 124, Andy Murray was in 3rd place with 55.
Here's hoping for a repeat result on Sunday!

I am a massive fan of Lewis Hamilton and i give my vote to him. He has made me and my two kids very proud. It is not about driving a fast car!! everyone should know that. Lewis is the Youngest ever F1 champ and therefore has proven himself as true sports man

Chris Hoy no doubt deserves the crown this weekend, but I expect Lewis Hamilton to win it (not that he's an unworthy winner either). Which, for Hoy, is a shame as this is the only realistic year he can achieve the Sports Personality (2012 maybe?), whereas Lewis will almost certainly be nominated on a yearly basis for the next 10 years

Would like to see one of the cyclists win. Would help promote the sport.

Any one but Christine Ohuruogu. Summary. Missed test, missed another test....etc. Banned then, when there was a chance of her winning a medal at the olympics, unbanned.

No example to the young....and pushing it as she is a second call Brit. Originally Nigerian!

Born in London I think you'll find.

Is Joe Calzaghe not British either? Because his dad's Italian?

Lewis Hamilton all the way.
I can't understand why rebecca adlington has even been nominated. In her place should be Ellie Simmonds.
also, chris hoy won 3 gold medals, and rode absolutly incredibly!!! RA got 2, and one world record, not as good in my eyes, the swim suit helps that.

Hoy, Ainslie, Adlington, Hamilton or Calzaghe would all be deserved winners. I'd go for Hoy, but any of the above and there could be no complaints.

Andy Murray has no personality.

Besides he hates the English so I fail to see why any here would vote for him.

Hamilton is a tax exile and therefore and economic traitor to the country that nurtured his talents. So again I don't see how he can qualify. He's disqualified himself in my opinion.

So it has to be either the cyclist or the swimmer for me.

"The cyclist or the swimmer"? You're really into your sport then?

Andy Murray hates the English too?

Glad an Olympian won; Chris Hoy probably emerged above the split cycling vote by virtue of lots of Scottish votes but he deserves it, and Hamilton will get his chance the next time he wins the world title (I can't see this being his only championship, although how many and when is impossible to project).
