Bham City fan here:

Making the following assumption that Heskey is an important player for Wigan - why would Whelan even consider selling him in the January transfer window? His transfer fee would be £5million at the absolute maximum given his age and the fact that his contract is up in January. Wigan wont necessarily be avoiding a relegation dogfight this summer and surely Heskey would be a crucial player for them, hence if they stay up they wouldn't lose a huge amount of money.

Am I the only one who thinks this is either paper talk nonsense, or a very silly business decision???

Thoughts, if you care enough?!?!?!

Emille Heskey is the worst player I have ever seen in my entire life and how on earth this bumbling goon ever made it as a pro Ill never know.

Bluestozza, as you are a follower of Stockport County, that is a tad harsh!!!

When heskey played at Birmingham, he was an excellent player ... obviously I'd have preferred him to score more goals, but his link up play, ability as a target man, and the general nuisance that he caused defenders was invaluable

"obviously I'd have preferred him to score more goals"

And therein lies the problem; any team with Heskey in it needs a free-scoring striker alongside him and/or goal scoring midfielders running off him, which we don't necessarily have at Latics...

I'd take anything over 3 million and put it to buying Zaki and a creative midfield player.

i think it would be a massive mistake for heskey to leave wigan. he is just falling back into the england fold and that is only because he is playing first team football week in week out. if he left wigan for a club like liverpool he would lose first team football and therefore lose his england hopes. he would regret leaving.
