Lee is back

International Tests Australia

comment on the article

After the nighmare trip of India where he finished with just 8
wickets at 62, Lee is back with a bang.

He took 5 wickets today to skittle out NZ for 203 notwithstanding a fighting 84 from Mccullum.
Good to see him back in action. He has also lost weight after the illness in India.

Australia now wait for the sterner test against South Africa.
The tests are to be played at the WACA, SCG and MCG.

Steve, I have only seen the highlights of the NZ 2nd innings but saw the first. Lee was getting genuine bounce out of the pitch as well as a bit of movement off the seam and a bit of swing. Considering it was Adelaide and he is coming back from illness vs playing NZ, I thought his figures were well-deserved.

fairandbalancedfan, the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force.

It amazes me that 3 people have rated this article as a 1. It is well constructed, upbeat and there is nothing offensive in it. I suspect the culprits are the usual "some aussie-hating" users (and we all know who they are) that cant bare to see anything remotely nice written about an aussie or the team. Oh dear doh

Just watching the highlights, he was producing a fair bit of pace and bounce alright. Impressed with the way McCullum stuck around, he's taking a battering but sticking around nicely and giving a bit back.

If the Kiwi's can get some consistency at the top of the order to take the pressure of Taylor and maybe have Ryder coming in with a few on the board, they would do so much better.

Boreng, don't get too worked up about the ratings, there are a number of phantom one star raters on these boards - there's nothing sinister in it, just sad gits who never comment but just rate and run for some reason.

I thought Lee bowled bloody well given what a flat track it was, as did Johnson - one short one that Vettori somehow ramped over 1st slip for four looked lethal to me!

Steve, i'd rather have Ryder coming on carrying the drinks to be honest ... quite like the idea of the team staying the same with the exception of Oram coming back from injury, Fulton in at 3 and Ryder back in the nets ...

Ryder back in the nets ...

-----------------------------
Or maybe on the treadmill laugh

Seriously though, I don't mind Ryder in the side but he's more a number six at the minute. If he's not a goose and good for the team and maintains discipline, he's got a lot of ability.

And definitely you add Oram back in and it strengthens your side a lot ... if you had Bond still there, immeasurably more competitive side.

I had only seen Ryder play one-dayers before he had his accident and he looked very promising. Now I have seen him play in this test series I have had to reconsider. What is with that footwork! Briiliant hand-eye, which he clearly has, will take you so far but...

Maybe the new coach can instill a bit more of a work ethic, but at the moment he looks like a fella who is not making the most of his abilities. Sharp catch, though. When will Oram be fit?

Yeah Stroller, his footwork isn't flash, but then at times neither is the footwork of Dhoni and Sewhag and they seem to go alright ... well, better than alright

Amazing that growing up in NZ with some pretty seam-friendly wickets he's not got better feet movement. Shows how good is eye is.

Stroller, Ryder is a talented hitter and a handy backup bowler - but he's nowhere near a test top order batsman ... his feet may move from time to time, but not always in the direction they should ... Top of the order as a pinch hitter in ODI cricket? yes please ... potentially coming in 2nd ball of a test match on a dodgy pitch against a top test attack? hell no!

Andy Moles was supposedly a solid and unspectacular opening bat at county level, with a FC average just over 40, and over 15000 FC runs ... if anyone can instil a bit of stickability in the Kiwi lads it will be someone like him - I hope!

@boreng & Waikato: I'd just like to throw the forum open to those 1 star rates to name themselves, and why they think the article is worth 1 star. Or are you going to remain cowering away?
