Any luck and the Pumpkin will include the Aberdeenshire Cup in this plan and we may get shot of him that way. Another idiotic statement from Calderwood in which he sticks the boot into Stevie Crawford who stood up to him at the Queens Park game after his rotten management. The other comment he makes about the QOS debacle being "one of the great mysteries of football" proves that he has learnt nothing from his fatal errors and is limited to one dimensional Sunday league management. He clearly states that there was nothing wrong with his selections and tactics which is a total cop out from a spineless Plumpkin that passes the buck once again. How could this result be a mystery when the intelligent fans saw it coming a mile off?

200 games and about 20 enjoyable ones. Please just leave.

Well put DonBesty. You speak sense.

Dons fans on BBC blogs are sooooo boring. No idea or sense of where we are. Caldo is not great but better than anyone else who would actually risk coming north.

I reckon bring back Alex Miller!!!

It's all nonsense, sack the board and maybe then the manager but not before. Does nobody see that the mince being played week in week out permeates the entire league? At least last year Dons were still flying a flag in Europe along with the old firm. Memories are short in Aberdeen...

Donald Trump to buy the club - it's a quick way into the north east for him.

Night night.

"Bring on the insults!"

Mmmm, sounds to me like you're not even entirely convinced by what you've written.

I'm waiting for someone to convince me of the following:

1. Calderwood is not an embarrassment virtually every time he opens his mouth, and is a good figurehead for the club.
2. He is tactically adept.
3. After 200 games under him, AFC play a recognisable system, with an acceptable level of consistency, and occasional flair.
4. He is the man to get crowds back up, not down at Pittodrie.
5. He has not had the most money to spend out with the OF.
6. He has an ability to get the most out of his players.
7. He takes responsibility for poor performances, and protects his players like a good pro does, keeping opinions 'inside the dressing room'.

Why do we have to settle for this?

I'm waiting...

No idea of where we are? I take it you're actually in Chelmsford, CD?

Get JC out - now.

Nothing like positive thinking is there?

JC has had to rebuild the team on a shoestring budget. You can't expect Brazilian style football for that sort of money.

The ghost of SAF still haunts Pitodrie. Time to start living in the real world. The reality is that European football is a luxury. The best we can expect is top 6 finnishes.

There's only one JC and I'm glad he's our manager. He is a dedicated, honest and hard working guy who has done a wonderful job. Come the split I'm sure he'll have the team in the top six.

Here's to the next 200 matches

I found this part of the article to be the most depressing:
"There are two-and-a-half years to go on my present deal and we will have to see what the board decides when that time comes".

The headline is just to attract peoples attention (that's what headlines are for!) but the truth is JC knows he is safe for now. Even if crowds continue to fall he will be safe until we are losing so much cash that Milne will have to pay him off - for JC this means £££££'s! Either way it's good times for JC, this article was certainly no exit speech, maybe just a quiet "come and get me" to whichever chairman has looked at AFC's results on paper but has never actually watched us play.

I don't buy the shoestring budget claim, after the OF and Hearts we've had the most, and i'm not convinced he's tactically up to it. Furthermore he seems a bit of a tube whenever he talks to the press.

However his record is such that i feel i must stand up for it. He's done a decent job so far, and after a decade of tragicomedy decent is pretty good.

The shoestring budget is a myth created by JC defenders. Sure, in English league standards it is "shoestring" but not in SPL terms. Taking the OF out of the equation (we can never come close to their budgets) our budget has been equal too and in most cases greater than other SPL sides. Trouble is we have had some players in who we haven't used effectively and in some cases have been allowed to leave when worse players have stayed on/been signed. That is a managerial problem, nothing to do with budgets.

JC has been a good transitional manager and has successfully taken us from dire/mediocre to average/mediocre wih a very occasional good display here and there. What he has achieved is starting to erode as he has clearly taken the team as far as he is able to and is now treading water at best and is in fact starting to take AFC backwards The next managerial appointment is crucial if our transition to a debt free competitive side is to continue. The new manager will take over an average/mediocre team and must make the transition to good/average that JC and co. are unable to.

I love Aberdeen as a town, and as a football club. But complete freaks who are rotten around at message forums are the biggest hamper of the team, not the manager/ Those morans who are stating negative about JC clearly haven't got any personal pleasurement, or are sheep-related, as after the UEFA-cup run last season and the continuing top 6 qualifying shows we have a good manager. Grow up kids, or leave the internet NOW
