Glad about Kinnear

comment on the article

I am pleased on hearing Joe Kinnear staying at Newcastle. He has steadied the ship and I like his style of football as well :)

Here is the confirmation

The players like him alot and he was won my respect and many other fans despite the loss to Sunderland.

Just hope he does well in the January transfer window but I think he has said Wise is handling transfers.

Now I know no one likes him but you can'y deny the quality of his transfers to be honest. I am very pleased with Jonas Colo and Bassong.

Not so sure about Xisco and we won't ever see gonzalez

Robbie Fowler is known as God on merseyside, Eric Cantona is known as King at Old Trafford but do their perceived titles qualify them to become good managers?

This is the problem with Newcastle and Shearer! He was undoubtedly the best player you have had in recent years and showed superb depth of loyalty when he turned down the money and trophies on offer at Man Utd to go 'Home'.

However this does not mean he will be a good club manager. He proven nothing as a manager and if Newcastle want to push on a be a top European side you need experience. The only top managers he has played under have been Dalgleish and Venables so what has he really learnt? Even Nicky Butt has more european experience than Shearer.

This is my whole problem with Newcastle fans and the sentimentality towards 'hometown' heroes! Wenger does not hail from North London, Fergie is not a son of Greater Manchester and Mourinho certainly wasn't born and bred on fulham broadway.

The fact that you guys rate Shearer over JK shows that some fans have little respect for the game! I know some Newcastle fans share my views on this but the majority don't.

I remember the days when Guillt had 'the nerve' to drop Shearer for the Tyne and Wear derby. Granted he was not a good manager for you guys but the reaction of the fans to back Shearer over Guillt without being in and around training was naive. The full story of what happened between those 2 will never be known but ultimately it would not have mattered to the Fans - Shearer would have been in the right regardless. When The same can be said of the Keegan-Ashley fallout. Despite poor results and poor performances under KK you still backed him over Ashley.

Shearer is effectively allowed (by the fans) to control the club without actually committing to the cause.

red_fab_fred is spot on and I'm a Toon fan. Mind you, red you wrong on one point. Bobby Robson was the best manager Shearer played under. Robson was streets ahead of Dalglish and Venables...

Shearer does not have the balls to become a manager. He never left Newcastle as far as I am concerned, he was one of their problems.
Trouble with Newcastle is, they think its their right to be top dog
