Being a huge Ronnie fan, I feel Ronnie has not been playing well for him to win the UK. Selby for me, and if they both win, they could both meet in the Semis like last year I think

yeah sickpotter, I just hope you realise how important it is to express your views in the public. I don`t know how hard it is for you to read my comments! but I guess you just don`t want to read anythin good about Ronnie! I don`t wanna kiss his butt, but I like him so much as a person not only as a snooker player.
be careful with your comments please. I hope next you respond like a grown up man and reasonable!!!

Ronnie will be the defending champion. This has positive and negative sides: I'm sure he will be willing to do well especially as it's one of the majors but on the other hand he will have additional pressure. He hasn't been playing well recently but in most matches he has fought very hard to win and longer formats suit him better. Again positives and negatives. He isn't too well right now neither. I have seen in in Hamm, close-up, and those who think he just couldn't be bothered to go to Bahrain are wrong. Maybe he isn't that unwell he couldn't go if he wanted to, but certainly the man I have seen this week-end wasn't well at all. He was extremely anxious and looked strained and tired. So? I would be surprised if he suceeded in defending his title but I don't rule it out completely. I don't expect him to lose in first round neither. I expect him to make it to the quarters or semis.
If not Ronnie who? That's difficult to tell.
Selby: certainly a candidate but apart from PL he has been rather disapointing this season
Maguire: unpredictable
Higgins: great run in GP ... played total crap in last PL. I don't feel it
Trump: why not? Big test for the young man but he's on a confident run

Its madness, in all competetions you just don't know which Ronnie will turn up. tactically supurb and definitive or clumsy and too casual.

Shaun Murphy or Neil Robertson will win the UK Championship. Either of those two, or any of the other players who are going to be there. Why not just wait until they're playing and see who's in the best form in the tournament before embarking on unprovable and purile "this man will win easily, end of, bye" comments?

By the way, that's my prediction. I do think Robertson or Murphy will win. Will I be particularly surprised if neither of them do? Nope. Strength in depth, you see.

In a one week tournament, and in Ronnie's 'good week' he's got to be the favourite. The problem is if we get one of his 'out of form weeks' then natural ability will see him possibly even till the quarters before one of the other 'big guns' e.g. Selby, Hendry, Murphy, Robertson, McGuire, Higgins etc knock him out.

The hardest it'll get for him before the quarters is Perry and Day.

Why say ronnie can only beat himself. he isnt that great lets be honest. every time he loses a game "im going to retire i hate the game etc etc" grow up Ronnie and admit you cant lick steves boots in his heyday. Will always be favourite to win every tourny. And probly will but i like it when he loses to hear his little 6 year old child rant and excuses as to why he lost!

ablue, if you 'like' listening to him after he loses then I suggest it's you that needs to grow up.

To other more intelligent posters: Ronnie is beatable by others but the reality is that his best is better than anyone elses, so rather like Hendry in 90s and Davis in 80s, this thread merely makes the point that if he plays HIS best he wins.
