Haha this was Carlton Cole 2 days ago! I feel this is good news and he wants to be above Cole in Zolas pecking order! They both are trying too hard to impress I think!

It will be interesting to see who will be "Zola's Pet"

Love the humor guys but this is really good news IMO... This kid may no have scored 3 on boxing day aainst the spuds on his debut but he reminds me so much of another little native that did. I hav complete faith in this kid & more so than Carrrick or J Cole (which both I rated in order). To put C Cole in front of him is murder of pure ability IMO. I do not think CC is good enough fore "the Heskey role or any other" he should be stronger, should hold the ball up better, should score more goals... TOO MANY SHOULDS FOR ME...

I dont understand why CC keeps getting games ahead of ickle freddie sears? I could understand it if he held the ball up / scored more goals per games / won a few flick ons for bellamy or basically done anything of note? but he doesnt!! he gets the ball, tries to run and loses it, or tries a fabregas style pass and loses it! I just cant see why hes in the side week in week out! are we that thin up front?

But with regards to sears, im delighted, i seen him at goodison last year and he was immense, came on with 20 or so mins to play, and put everton onto the back foot. Jagielka / lescott and yobo were terrified by his pace and he was unlucky not to score! Defo 1 for the future.

This is excellent news to me because Freddie is an excellent top prospect. Not prospect, not finished article.
We have pre-empted an January interest and I hope we continue to sign players that are 'core' to our future on long term contracts ok

Sorry to waz in your cornflakes boys but as you all should know by now my trust for BG is zero.

Sears signed a new contract in March, other than preparing to sell the club (which would suit me fine) or push up the value of players by putting them on long term contracts in order to sell them in January why would he be offered a new deal now ?

Yes I know I'm a gloom monger, pessimistic and can't see the sun for the clouds blah blah blah but I'm concerned when I see the likes of Carlton Cole and now Sears getting long term deals when the future of the club under the present owner is uncertain.

Agree Hammerrobbie - but surely tying CC to the club for 5 years is more of a liability than an asset!! :0)

If GZ wants to play with a formation that needs someone to play the holding up role then get someone in that has the strength and passing ability to do it.
