Karthik, when England are performing miserably and when watching the top order makes you cringe, you could say that England could be forced to make this move (being a captain or not). If KP scores 90 off 65, then the rest could be history.

Although I do take your point regarding Tendulkar.

Where is Monty. Unbelievable, England decided to leave him out and that too on Indian pitches!

You obviously have no idea about cricket then. England are away to currently the best side in the world and putting in the best effort they can. England's batting and bowling has been distinctly average but today there was a real effort made. KP played a great knock today and his captaincy has been good for someone thrust into the job so quickly. There isen't a team in the world that could beat this India side right now, there is no shame in KP.

not quite the worst captain that belongs to tony greig the connection is he was from S.A.
the sad lack of players of international class look at county cricket its a mess, unless a block is put on overseas players the problem can nly get worse, the county averages say it all.

I think change of attitude has worked for this team more than anything else.
Before they were afraid of loosing, now they want to win. We loved the test series that India played with Australia (in Australia); even though India lost it with 2-1 but they fought for it hard. I hate to say but the only game in which England appeared to be fighting was the game 4.
In case you haven't guessed already I am rooting for India.

Sorry, a lot of this has to be down to KP.

India's batsmen have been allowed to run riot so far, and most bowling and field changes have made the situation worse. He has little concept of tactics, having never captained before he's woefully low on experience, and put quite simply he was the wrong choice as captain.

For one dayers they need to get an experienced T20 captain in, and for the tests who knows?

Oh yeah, the tests...tell me KP is not going to get wound up by the Indian shenanigans, let alone Ponting next year!

I'm not really into the County scene these days so can't really offer up alternatives, but nobody in this squad is up to the Captain's job, just about the only thing going for them at present is KP's batting, or just occasionally somebody else's like Shah.

rob key should have been drafted in from the performance squad to open.

I agree about Rob Key; someone who goes at it hard from the start with his batting. Wasn't it Glen McGrath who rated him, describing him as "someone with a bit of the dog about him"?

Glad they dropped Bell but to replace him with Cook shows how clueless the England captain/coach/selectors are. It still seems to be a 'jobs for the boys" attitude. They could learn a lesson from the England football manager about picking a team and picking only those who are in form. It seems that by guaranteeing a place for your mates has made them a soft touch.
