Hey there fellow hard workers.

Just a thought, but was thinking it may be good for encouragment and ideas if we perhaps shared a few of a our training sessions for the next week or so just to see how the other half live etc, a kinda 'week in the life of'

I dont mind starting (and will prob be the only one lol)

Start on sat as that was the sheffield indoor open.

Sat 22nd, indoor 150 - 16.56, 60 - 7.17 :-( lol
Sun 23rd, Hills in coventry memorial park long hills about 160-180m, 2 sets of 5 hard runs recovery walk back down(was very wet and slippy)
Mon 24th Weights (complex) Cleans 4 sets with 70kg and burpee jumps between sets, bench press 4 sets with 80kg with junp claps between sets, Squats 3sets with 140 with hurdle jumps between sets, Stiff leg dead lift 3 sets with 90 kg depth shock jumps between sets. follwed by standing broad jump and triple jump
then 8-100 tempo runs
Tue 24th, 4 120m speed increase each run getting quicker (wont quote tinmes as they are hand timed and everyone will always doubt them lol) 4 80m and 4 60m flat out with 3 min recovery between each run

thats the training so far this week due to du circuits tonight but my achilies aint feeling too good form all the jumping :-(

Hey, if some of you guys are Cov Godiva, were you at the BAL promotion match at Abingdon in Sep? I run for Bournemouth so was there & I'm sure you got promoted too?

Nice one C-G. We had a blast that day and couldn't believe we almost won the match - all we wanted was to come 6th & get into National Div 4.

We've been flirting with promotion for years (other than a brief dip into Southern Div 2) and finally got together a good enough team that actually turned out for the entire season. In previous years we had the talent & on a good day could beat any team in our league but were let down on occassion by a lack of commitment.

We now have a strong, mostly young team (I'm one of the older ones at 34!) that is motivated to do well. It's a nice feeling, and certainly means I'll have to train extra hard this winter if I don't want to get beaten every match by some kids!

haha yeah was a good day, what event did you do, im obviously a sprinter so thats obvious what i did on that day, we werent as strong as normal in our other events but again thst mostly due to the fact our directors dont actually want a ens national team for some reason, well mostly because were more ephasis on our mens road and cross country sadface
i know what you mean though about age im still in my 20's but the young ones coming through are starting to take flight and fight for places, which tbh is excellent

I just did hurdles on the day (110 & 400h) and was thankfully spared the relays. So you can look me up on the results if you like!

We were in the BAL for a couple of seasons back in the early-mid 90's & did ok. I was young enough (then!) not to really worry about the standard of the oppostion so just enjoyed myself. If you don't have sufficient strength in depth & can't turn out close to your best team every time, things can quickly go wrong. The season we got relegated, we were down to bare bones (partly because some athletes didn't want to compete at that level) & you can't get away with it at that level.
