Man Utd reach the knockout stage

Manchester United

comment on the article

Manchester United and Villarreal contested their fourth straight goalless draw in the Champions League as both qualified from the group stage.

Cristiano Ronaldo came closest to a goal but Diego Lopez brilliantly tipped his strike on to the crossbar.

Joan Capdevila was later given a red card for a challenge on Ronaldo.

What did you think of the match and should it have been a straight red card for Capdevila?

Fergurson's comments were disgraceful. To come out and say it's ok Rooney dived becaus he apologised to me makes it all better, doesnt it?

And he used the opportunity to have a go at Pires and call him a diver.

Im sorry, but I've not seen Ronaldo apologise for any of his countless dives, and my mates that support QPR will tell you they've heard nothing from Wellbeck.

Apologies dont excuse it anyway, just dont do it. Roony should have gone and told the ref and asked for a yellow card if he was really serious about being sorry, but he didnt, did he?

Fergie's a joke, with him it's always the victim mentality. "Poor, poor, pour me another", that's old Alex.

Typical gooner

how many arsenal midfielders hav scored 42 goals in a season? Better question, how many arsenal STRIKERS hav scored 42 in a season?

Better question yet, even if u take away penalties and free-kicks from ronaldo (for sake of argument lets say he scored 15 of his goals from them), how many arsenal players hav scored 27 in a season?

I rest my case.

How long has Ronaldo been bagging 27, 42 or whatever the number is???
Thierry used to hit about 30 crisp, classy goals every season. Ade managed 30 last season too, so u clearly dont know what you are talking about. If you look around you'll find Torres easily managed 26+ last season as well and Drogba b4 injuries was doing that for fun. Take away the dives and your 'superman' is just another ordinary joe.

Roonaldovez - "two watford supporters in my class" rather gives the game away - as a schoolboy, you'll not have seen enough football to have formed any opinion worth having! Ronaldo may not be the traditional out-and-out striker but that hardly makes him a midfielder in my book. Best player in the world? He's not even the best player at Old Trafford.

Coming from an Arsenal fan that last statement is so hypocritical it's offensive. Your club is a shambles at the moment, and events in the past few seasons have shown the moral fortitude of your manager and team to be lower in than most.

Rooney dived, he shouldn't have and of course an apology doesn't make it ok. However, it is a damn sight more than most would offer. At least he's never attacked someone for missing a penalty

Anybody would think that Arsenal have never had a dodgy decision in their favour and they have a direct line to the heavens.

See my post above yours, take away the dubious penalties and free kicks, and see what you remain.

Virtually all top strikers take penalties and I don't see whats wrong with scoring free kicks. but since you ask, this is taken from the daily telegraph:

>There are figures to fortify the view that seldom has a footballer been so broadly gifted. Of Ronaldo's 42 goals for United last season, only 13 were scored with his naturally favoured right foot in open play - and 6 of those were from outside the penalty area. 7 came from his left foot. 9 were headers. There were 5 free-kicks and 7penalties. Those who have been counting will notice we are still one short. It was a crafty nudge of the groin against West Ham.

Ronaldo is clearly a quality player, those who don't acknowledge that are quite frankly idiots. The thing that annoys everyone, even united fans, is diving and making a meal out of challenges. If he cut this out he'd be respected as the world class footballer he is.

The challenege on Tuesday was a disgrace and he rightly got his punishment of a red card.
