Live - Tuesday's Champions League

Champions League
comment on the article

There's a lot at stake tonight, but most eyes will be on two characters at the Emirates Stadium in north London.

Arsene Wenger, subjected to the most fierce criticism of his 12-year stint in England in recent days, has chosen Cesc Fabregas to be his new club captain, in the wake of Gallasgate.

If the Gunners beat Dynamo Kiev, they qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League, with a group game to go. Crisis, what crisis?

Meanwhile, Manchester United warm up for Sunday's derby at City knowing a win in Villarreal will ensure they qualify, while Celtic must keep their last 16 hopes alive by beating Aalborg.

Having collected a pathetic one point from their previous 17 Champions League away games, it won't be an easy task for the Scottish champions.

There are five other massive games, too. Time to get stuck in.

Definitely a RED .. ball on the ground, studs in the knee after the ball ,, watch his foot follow through !! Absolutely deliberate and the ref had a great game !

"Ronaldo wasn't hurt, he is a cheat. The tackle was awkward but it wasn't intentionally dangerous. Amazing how quickll he recovered. United fans are blinkered and now Rooney is diving, is this now a part of United's tactical approach to games? A villareal player gave Ronaldo a tap on the head as a friendly gesture, bt the petulent portogeuse reacted by signalling to the refereee that the guy had grabbed him, this guy is constantly looking for frees and bookings. Ref's must hate the sight of him and players are afraid to tackle him. Bring in video evidence to expose the cheat! A talent yes, but people can't see past the truth. United rely on him so heavily they won't have a word said against him...Spoilt brat"

Well well! I find you hit the nail right on its little gelled head!

My very first image from this match was Ronaldo rolling so much I thought they were playing on a ski-jump, when he'd actually been standing STILL when tackled! doh

No surprise to see a Liverpool fan agree with a Chelsea fan about this.

United in your bitterness and jealousy of all things Man United.

It was a clear red card. Get over it.

No.

It's not "cheating" to roll around in mock agony when someone breathes on you.

It's allowed.

There's no rule against it.

In fact, you don't even need to be near another player or anywhere near the ball. But it helps if you are, cos then the ref'll see you and may award you for artistic merit.

If you can dance around the ball & not fall over the ball, it's even better as the ref will be "mesmerised". (On 2nd thoughts, if you DO fall over he might award you for that too).

You must just remember to look your best for the occasion (check those shampoo ads)

And don't forget, the odd tear or a wink to the 4th official will get you endless extra attention too, especially if you feel you're not getting enough of the referee's attention.

Scottish teams should go through some preliminary rounds, like Andorra, etc.

==================

because of one bad season? you are a disgrace. Scottish teams have achieved far greater than many of the other countries in europe, why the hell single out Scottish teams.

I'm more embarrassed for teams like Chelsea lol. How pathetic, they try to buy success and still FAIL. Bout somes up the premiership really. Who really needs that 3 team league anyway?
