Becher Chase

comment on the article

A good performance for Black Aplachi today in the Becher chase over the national fences. He was up there for most of the way and jumped well, but won't be winning the National for me this year.

Any thoughts on the race (An Mr Pointment's comeback to thwart the hughes 1-2?)

Take nothing away from the winner, was
very game and won well and certainly must have bags of stamina. As for the race as a whole i'd just put a line through it from a form point of view. Everything that finished pretty much crawled over the line in desperate conditions and i'd expect several of them to go better on better ground

If he doesn't have too high a handicap mark, he could be a national horse. But he won't be winning for me.

Mr pointment just didnt like the ground and on better ground he would have been closer, might not have caught the winner but he was going well for a long way round IMO

33/1 wouldn't be a bad price if it turned up soft in April.

There is no way of knowing if it can win. If it carries more than 11st it wont. If it doesn't it has a chance. It beat the others out of sight and was still going pretty well on awful ground. If it is 33/1 and carrying less than 11st I will have a few quid on.
