hey fellow reading fans..
i'm new to this so i just thought i'd share what i have to say
Reading as a whole were very poor today throught out the team and were very lucky to go in at half time 1-0 down..with thanks to marcus hahnamann.
second half after we were 2-0 down we decided to switch on and play and reall thought we were good to get a draw as southampton seemed shocked after kebe pulled one back.
imo most of the internationals didn't look up for it..it seemed that they were second to every ball and at the end of the day southampton just wanted it that little bit more..
i don't no what you guys think but from the east stand not a good day
but then again it's good to get out of our system one bad game at home..
keep the faith..
you rzzzz

Yep agreed on most of that! Only thing that annoyed me was the amount of fickle fans around me getting up and having a go at our own players when they did something wrong, the same fans that most likely have been praising them all season at home..

Some idiots around me booed at the half time whistle...this team that has given so much this season so far. Id rather be in a smaller supportive crowd than a bigger glory hunting fickle one. One bad result does not mean we are suddenly a bad team. Onwards to Cardiff COYR

fair play to southampton thought they were unbelievable with such a young squad.

I dont agree that people booing at half-time should be called idiots. come on their grown men they can take it. Im not say booing should become a regular event but if reading are playing awful football like today mayb they need the fans to give them a kick up the arse to wake them up? whats wrong with that? If you pay money you expect to see something for it?

Anyway another poor sub appearence from shane Long not even the basics were there. He needs along run in a side, even if its not ours. He provides nothing when he comes on. Keep a knackered Noel on or give someone else ago mayb even 10 men! joking!

Oh well long season... come on u rrrr's

One of the worst displays I have seen from the guys but I suppose we all have off days. Thought southampton came and hassled us off the ball for 90 mins whilst we sat back and let them play when they had the ball. I have been singing Bikeys praise all season but today he had a bad game but then so did a most of the team. Not worries though as we have already seen more then once this season we are a great team smiley come on u Royals!

It was the same kind of display that cost us our place in the premiereship last season. Fulham and Bolton come to mind, two teams we should have at least got a point from at home and the team dont even bother to play thinking they had won before a ball was kicked.

The display today reminded me of those games, Southamton a struggling team, easy meat. But like Bolton and Fulham they played us off the park with pin point passing and players hassling us every time we got the ball.

It seems we have fallen back into bad ways which I thought would have been rectified after last season. If it hadnt been for Hanneman today would have been an embarassment.

Lets not have the excuse of International games, these are professionals whose bodies should be able to take the rigours of travel and high pressure matches.

Agree with the first bit ReadArs.

However, it was just one game, and collectively (with the exception of Marcus) we were very poor.

Southampton did the right thing, they put players into places where normally we dominate (our little triangle passes were broken up everytime).

Disappointed with 10 of our 11 today, however, wholesale changes aren't needed just yet.

Big up to the Saints fans that I met pre match, saying that they would need to score 4 goals to beat us (bet you have sunk even more beers.......on top of the dozens that you had already sank), and to their entire following to-a-man respecting the minutes tribute.

A poor game, by our standards........but credit to the "Scummers" kids

Not a good day but it is only, too many players simply did not perform or were not allowed to perform, credit to Southampton I thought they were great and were ‘up for it’ completely and completely deserved the win.

I must mention Shane Long’s performance after he can on as a sub; I can only describe his performance as woeful. I appreciate that Steve Coppell knows at least a million times more than me about football, I wonder though what he is thinking when he picks him, I can only think that Long’s performances in training, his attitude, he gives the impression he is low maintenance for a modern day footballer lends him to being picked in the squad. What do others think?

I hasten to add he is not the reason we lost today.

We are falling into last seasons trap of a team that picks itself. More competition for places is needed. If you look at the bench yesterday only Matejovski could compete for a first team place.

As for Long, he isnt Championship quality, he has had 3-4 seasons to progress and has just stood still in his performances. A lone spell maybe where he could play every week, but I doubt it.
