If we lose to SA & NZ - will Johnno resign?

ANYBODY CHANGE THEIR MIND AFTER THE DISMAL S.A. PERFORMANCE?

What do people think?

Given the dreadful performance against Australia, and the virtually unchanged (if not weakened with Sheridan's withdrawal) team - I think there is a high probability that we will lose to both SA and NZ.

SA have been awful against Wales and Scotland and are under pressure to perform.

NZ are NZ; i.e. brilliant inbetween world cups and are on course for the 'grand slam' of home nations so will be very difficult to beat.

So will Johnson resign if we lose these?

I hope in a way, that England lose to SA so that Johnson is forced to make some changes, introduce some new faces - some of the players in the current team are disctinctly average - namely Noon, Armitage, Borthwick...

If anyone else was coach they'd be sacked after the AI's if the same happens against NZ.

MJ shouldn't be treated any differently, if England get slaughtered again, it's on his hands.

Mr Johnson is on a hiding to nothing. He will now realise the pressure Brian Ashton (who should have remained) was under.

IMO - England showed far more spirit playing under Ashton than that currently being exhibited at present.

There are a lot of deluded souls out there, who thought, all Johnson had to do, was turn up and England would become World beaters.

No chance!

Poor Brian Ashton, I say.

Bin Martin Johnson, and get Boris Johnson in to replace him, he can't do a worse job.... smiley

At least Boris has learnt not to sound like an idiot when talking to the media.

Perhaps the RFU will now admit that they may need to look outside the 'closed shop' of English rugby for leadership in the current climate of international rugby.

The unifying thread of dismal performances by England over the last five years is Rob 'Gravy Train' Andrew. Sling him out on his ear now!

You can't get rid of Johno after 3 games, does no-one remeber the tour of hell in 97. If England had got rid of Woody then do you think we would have gone on to win the world cup in 2003? Give MJ time to build his squad; Care and Cipriani hav bucket loads of talent and will become world beaters, but when they have only got less than 10 caps between them what is to be expected? Lets bleed these players through, NZ, SA and Aus are the best tests for these guys to cut their teeth in international rugby. Give MJ and his squad time and the Webb Ellis trophy will be back on these shores soon!

I think we will now see who runs English Rugby and - more importantly - the team. The Ashton sacking was a shabby mess and something the board should be ashamed of until their dying day. But we are where we are. Will Johnson admit that he is - as a coach - still on the learning curve and appoint a real coach while he manages the team? Will he look critically at whether Wells and Ford have got the nous to change their thinking to reflect the modern game? Will this even make any difference when there are people "managing" the ERU who don't know the shape of the ball let alone the shape of a back line and who continue to insist on sticking their uninformed oar in. Crucial and defining few months coming up methinks.

Really? I thought he made a living out of sounding like an idiot. He does wear aslightly better fitting trousers than Johnno though.

Johnno, not just ill fitting trousers.

In a suit you can say he looks like one only thing....'the accused'.

Which isn't that far from the truth.
