Pub Team v Poland

International Republic of Ireland

Shocking.

I struggle to remember a worse performance.

I am in my late 30's and I can tell you that on a pitch I would have made less MISTAKES and offered more GOING forward than most of the Republic of Ireland team tonight.

They were SHOCKING.

The good.

Caleb Folan, made a mistake for the first goal defensively. Going forward, holding the ball was good. Seven out of ten (7/10)

Shay Given, great as usual, no chance with any of the goals and one great stop. 7/10

Kevin Doyle, held the ball up well, 6.5/10

Whelan, tried his guts out, got involved 6/10.

Stephen Hunt, 8/10, turned the game around, in 10mins.

The bad.

Kevin Kilbane. Usually brilliant , tonight anonymous.

The Ugly

Darren Gibson. Didn't even know he was on the pitch, he was that anonymous. Useless, should never wear a green shirt again. (0/10) Did he actually play? Are you sure???

Andy Keogh, played for Poland tonight. I think he completed more passes to them than he did to us. I would doubt I would ever hand him a green shirt again, but would give him a chance to redeem himself. (1/10)

Richard Dunne, must be watching Declan O'Hara videos [video nasties], usually rock solid, dodgy all night long. (2/10)

McShane. Simply put, this lad is not international standard. (2/10)

O'Shea similarly thought he was playing for Poland tonight and probably completed more passes for them, than Ireland. (1/10)

and last but not least...

Damien Duff. If you can't hit the RECTANGLE at that level then it is all 'huff and puff' for nothing. After Damien's three misses I would have sent him to the changing room, direct from the pitch. Atrocious. Damien Duff (0/10), you contributed NOTHING for your country tonight and should be ashamed of yourself. Ireland only scored when you left.

Damien here is a picture of a goal. I have marked some places to practice shooting at. I would play him on a match to match basis. Another performance like that for me would end his international career.

Giovanni Trappatoni. At last the Sparkle jury is in. You haven't got a clue mate. Ireland looked like a PUB TEAM tonight and that was your doing. A man of your stature and you put out a team like that, that plays like that. No, I don't think so.

I would ask Ireland fans to probe their memories and remember when Ireland played against Cyprus, under Stan Staunton, at home, when they scored an equaliser from Finnan very late on. Did tonights display not have exactly the same look and feel?

Of course it did.

We are sunk, yet again. I am prostrate will grief, I am. Lost again. I can't belive it.

Damn.

Friendlies are meaningless, under stan we beat denmark 4-0, we all know what happened after that, under kerr we won every friendly but when it came to the important games we struggled badly.Once we perform in the big games thats all that matters.

Also when you have 2 midfielders that dont get there game for their clubs your always going to be in trouble. Its like playing with 10 men at times but we are a small country with a small pool of players who have punched above are weight for as long as I can remember. So people need to relax and give the players a chance. If we get 2nd place in this group it will be an achievement in its self and then you never know in the play offs.

I don't disagree with you re. Gibson & Whelan, I would also add Keogh to that pair but bad and all as they were, Ireland still seemed to enjoy the lions share of possession. They were however susceptible to the counter attack as witnessed by Poland's 2nd & 3rd goals. If only Trapp will bite the bullet and bring back Andy Reid and somehow Stephen Ireland. We would hardly be world beaters at that but very much stronger.

Trappatoni only wants people who smile when they don't play, and Reid doesn't!! What type of attitude is that? Roy Keane would definitely kick you out of his team if you were seen not to be fighting tooth and nail for a place in his team! One of an Irish players few talents is his fighting spirit. Maybe Trapp can let a few Irish women on the team, they smile even nicer! This guy is a waste of money! I wonder if the FAI chief will escape resigning again?

Trap hasn't lost a competitive game yet and you want him fired.
Wait till we play against the stronger teams and see how we do.

How can you call yourself a fan when you're getting on the backs of the players after a friendly to Poland?

And StevieSparkle, comparing your self to Rembrandt...you really are delusional!

Give Rolf Harris anyday...muppet!

Joey joey something or other above

"like comparing Rolf Harris to Rembrandt".

The key there joey was the word "comparison".

It was a relative comment. Meaning the important bit was the gulf of capabilities and achievements of the two. I was not saying I was a Rembrandt, I was saying that the gulf between, Duff, who at best has the educational achievements of most 16 year olds in the country and a scientist is ridiculous.

Definitely something amiss that Tardelli and Brady back the midfield he puts out. We have far far better available and far more capable, with Carsely in the midfield even we would be nearly unbeatable.

I would not give Stephen Ireland the sweat of my jocks if he was on fire wanting to play for Ireland. He has let his country down miserably.
