Drogba Suspended

Chelsea

FA have suspended Drogba with a 3 match ban meaning he will miss Newcastle, Bolton and Arsenal. He will be able to play against Bordeaux, though. It seems a fair decision to me.

Hmmmm....

Rastamanvibe.... You sound like a really nice bloke. So you would pick things up and throw them at innocent members of the public would you!!? That is not human nature and never has been. The Burnley Fan will be dealt with accordingly if Chelsea have the right CCTV technology to find out who he or she was and if the Stewards had of spotted them. Only a few Burnley Fans would have thrown things so don't tarnish them all! Carrying a coin is hardly the same as a knife! A knife is an offensive weapon and throwing one at a football match would certainly lead to a huge criminal investigation. Do you carry knives??

I agree with you regarding the FA though.

Taptonparkred, a member of the public threw a coin at Drogba, he threw it back it was stupid, but not the same. It was a reaction, not the same reaction many would take but the same as others have done before whereas what the instigator did was unprovoked.

I'm not trying to justify Drogba's actions, because I know very well that he was in the wrong, and as a professional and a role model he ought to have known better.

BUT.

I've just been doing a bit of reading, and it turns out that Carragher didn't have to answer to an FA charge. Inconsistency at it's finest from the governing body. You might argue that this is fair because Carragher was sent off at the time, earning himself a three match ban, but surely it's the referee's mistake for failing to send Drogba off. Drogba was booked at the time of the incident, so it seems to me as though he's being made to answer for the same misconduct twice as a result of the sensationalism of the press.

This is ludicrous, we may as well hand coins to fans as they enter the stadium and invite them to throw them at players, surely this condones the actions of the fans and sends the wrong message to everyone. Yes, Drogba was wrong for throwing the coin back, but surely the coin shouldnt have been available to him in the first place!!! What action will be taken against the fans that threw it originally?

Repeatedly thoughout this discussion a common opinion has been that "Drogba was wrong" then many try to introduce an "if" or an "and" or a "but".

Let's keep it simple! Drogba's conduct was wrong, no "ifs", "ands" or "buts", end of discussion!

NEXT TOPIC PLEASE!

Why stifle the discussion? Might as well not use the boards if you want that.

if i go out later tonight and throw a coin into a crowd of 3000 people. will the police arrest me and i get a fine = yes. will i get 3 weeks off work and get paid 300,000 quid for that = no. why football is dying slowly in england. Drogba should be banned for life or made to do his job for 3 weeks with no pay simple as. but i guess he will cry and roll over on the pitch like a little girl pathetic.
