I was watching Steve bunce's boxing hour the other day and he made reference to a fight between calzaghe and Haye as a possibility. Personally, I think this would be a joke as Haye would be WAY to powerful for him (I acknowledge Joe has a good chin- but come on!) What do you guys think??

Joe is the best European boxer of recent times and his record speaks for itself. Most of those slagging him off are probably not Welsh and can't handle such a sporting great hailing from a tiny nation which punches well above its weight in many things.
Joe may not have a huge punch - but he's gone toe to toe with the best, thrown the punches, taken the shots like a man and stayed the course. It doesn't matter how he's won, just that he HAS.

I think Joe shoul retire, he will never get the respects he deserves in some circles as certain nations whom Im sure we all know who we are talking about, hate not being top of the tree! If he beats Dawson and Johnston, the same people will come up with another excuse, pull one outa the air.The people who really know there boxing and the subtleties that come with it, ie ring magazine and most proper boxing geeks.Know Joe is a great fighter!
Should Joe fight Haye definitely not it is infact I stupid idea, sorry Mr bunce but i think you are losing your marbles. Haye is just to big and powerful, they have weight division for a reason. The difference between light heavy is far bigger than super middle and light heavy! Haye wants the heavies what would it prove beating Joe. And to be honest as good as Joe is if haye connects that is one punch he want be getting up from again. If they were the same weight, on skill and ability Joe wins but they aint. Buncey go see your doctor mate losing and the plot come to mindlol

I feel Joe has a good 3 more fights in him. He hasnt exactly taken a beating lately has he and he looks fresh as ever. Take on Dawson and Johnson next year, maybe Pavlik the year after and call it a day. Thatll be the 4 bug new guys around including Kessler and then he will not have to answer to anybody again.

JC is Welsh? Since when?
Italian father, Welsh mother. Born in London.

Give Dawson a convincing whooping and I would warm to JC.
46 - 0 is a fine record. Then dig a little deeper and of the 46 there aren't too many top names.
I enjoyed the Lacy fight and the Kessler unification bout but it came too late.
If he cleans up the light heavy division it will be a fitting end to an average career.
Dawson 27-0-1
Erdei 29-0
Diaconu 25-0
Garay 32-3

4 Championship fights to finish 50-0 now that would be something!

Await the backlash with glee!! WUM WUM WUM

Calzaghe doesn't have any options.

If he took on Dawson he would either lose & tarnish his reputation and record, or win and have a load of idiot yanks spout off that 'Dawson was a nobody' (a la Lacy, Kessler etc......all supposedly up and coming stars till Joe taught them a lesson). Personally, my great respect for Calzaghe would become even greater if he could, at 36, beat someone of the coming generation....but seriously - why on earth would he do it? Massive risk: No reward

So, if he fights again it'll probably be some past-it 'superstar' (e.g tarver) and the fight will probably be an embarrassment for his opponent - just like it was for jones jnr. And if he won, a load of yanks would be spouting off that his opponent was 'washed-up' (which would be a fair description of tarver).

(p.s - I'm not even mentioning the prospect of Haye vs Calzaghe cos it's about as realistic as 'Alien vs Predator')

Haye will demolish Calzaghe.

Calzaghe should avoid Glen Johnson like the plague; Johnson gives his all and is a real ring warrior. Johnson was definitely robbed when he fought Dawson.

Calzaghe would definitely crush Dawson, its the best fight out there and I feel he should take it!

Legends should care more about beating the best there is not staying unbeaten. Anyone who wants Calzaghe to quit is scared that he will eventually lose. Joe is great but legendary? There's still a few names to tick off.

Whats all this about Johnson being robbed against Dawson, it was a very close fight, I thought Dawson just edged it, it was certainly no robbery though!

------------------------

** You're probably one of those misanthropes who thunks Ali whooped Frazier the first fight and Leonard whooped Duran.

If McGirt hadn't pulled out Paulie, nixy world would be sputtering on about robbery and other assorted nonsense.

Dawson is the class of the division, but he got both a gut check and a lesson in fistic arts against Johnson who never let him breathe as he pounded him up and downstairs at will.

The same lesson Dawson applied to Tarver, so clearly Johnson and Tarver are the dangermen in the division. Then we have exotic Erdei, who's rumoured existance has been long whispered with smatterings of alleged sightings.

Then we have nixy.....handbag

LRR, go & watch the fight again & stop talking crap all the time, it gets a bit tedious!
The fight could have gone either way, it was certainly no robbery!
