Your thoughts on Wales' side to face NZ

Welsh Wales

comment on the article

Warren Gatland has named his Wales side for the big clash with the All Blacks on Saturday.

I agree with Robert Jones - that Dwayne Peel should have started ahead of Gareth Cooper at scrum-half.

There are a few talking points on the bench - Luke Charteris preferred on form to Ian Gough and Gatland really singing the praises of John Yapp after his display against Canada.

I feel pretty bad for Mark Jones - a hugely under-rated player and undoubtedly one of the unluckiest in Wales. He played well against Canada, but I agree that Leigh Halfpenny just had to be given the chance after his displays.

Let us know your thoughts - was captain Ryan Jones lucky to retain his place ahead of Dafydd Jones?

And remember to have a crack at our squad selector

And also - and I've posted this before - when will people get up to speed and realise that coming close in a game isn't celebrated in Wales any more? Hardly saw the bunting going up after 'coming close' against SA. Maybe if you were in Wales you would get more of a feel for it.

That is a good comment from welshleicester I have been saying it for years. Thats why we could never beat england because the players bottled it and it was built up as a special game.

Yes the rivalry is special but england are no better or more important than any other nation in the six nations

3rdgrandslamcoming

No more important to beat than any team NH or SH,

Jimbo

I was at the Arms park for the EDF and the Bl”osers” took the Tigers apart down the middle of the park , I was with a colleague who follows the B”losers” it was embarrassing to watch.

“Maybe if you were in Wales you would get more of a feel for it”

I LIVE AND WORK IN CARDIFF HOW BLOODY CLOSE CAN GET.
UNLESS THAT IS AN OFFER, I'M TAKEN AND NOT YOUR TYPE, CAULI EAR, BROKEN NOSE EX BACK ROWER.

Jimbo,

“when will people get up to speed and realise that coming close in a game isn't celebrated in Wales any more? “

They don’t call you furious for nothing do they? winkeye

I’m frustrated when we win poorly never mind coming close to bottling it against the Boks.

I also agree with Robert Jones,Dwayne Peel would have been the best choice as Wales will have to have the strongest possible team to put preasure on New Zealand right from the off.

I think it was quite a good idea to have Peel on the bench. If Wales fall behind in a big game like this, they can most of the time rely on someone of his experience and skill to come on as an impact player and hopefully turn the game around. I can't wait to see how Halfpenny copes in this game. So far he has shown the most pride, passion and belief of any of the backs bar Lee Byrne in my opinion. He has not put a foot wrong.

By going with the same team Gatland is showing belief in his players. What more could you want from a coach. However, you can't help but think some players are on their last chance..

I think there is extra pressure on Cooper, Shanklin and Ryan Jones to really turn it on, hopefully they can and will!

Ryan Jones: Playing like his mother

Luke Charteris: Seriously???

All Blacks by 20, which Wales fans will see as a victory of sorts. Sadly.

It's been said before but Henson knits that midfield together and puts runners into holes. Without hm, it's all a bit crash, bang, predictable and I fear we'll turn ball over in the centres. Think the ABs are stregthened by inclusion of Kahui who I really rate.

On a different tack, any news on how Wales intend to respond to the Haka?
