Australia v Fiji - any chance of an upset?

World Cup

comment on the article

On to the second semi-final at the Rugby League World Cup - and can anybody seriously see anything other than a win for Australia?

Fiji have entertained with their unpredictable and exciting brand of rugby but they are being asked to climb a mountain that makes Everest look like a small mound created by a mole in your back garden.

bro i am talking about the sport being introduced to fiji in 1992 when our champion sevens rugby union team was lured into the game to play the World Sevens in Sydney ... Noa became the first local-based player to break into the NRL with the Raiders who had the likes of big names Mel Meninga, Laurie Daley, Ricky Stuart and the stars of the 90s ... I am not talking about the England-based Fijians at Rochdale mate.

have a read mate
..............................

oh, ok i know where r u coming from ... but u geting it mixed up ... the rochdale fijian association and its history is about rugby union not rugby league ... mate, if u have any doubts ... u can check with your fijian rochdale mates ... rugby league was only introduced in fiji in 1992 ... when the Aussies felt our union flair could be turned into league. thanks anyway mate ... it's the union and league codes that I am talking about ... of course in union we're the sevens world cup champions and we gave the Boks a mighty fright in the 1/4s of the world cup in the full code last year. ask the Welsh Gragons. we beat them in the pool decider! union has been played for ages but not league - 1992. i rest my case!

Well as expected Fiji are getting trounced. But are they doing any worse than England. I'd fear for us if we played Fiji in a 3rd place play off

Who was surprised that Australia thrashed Fiji. Another 10 tries for the Australians. The only thing which would surprise me would be if Australia dont win this in there back yard. It will be atleast another 4 years before Australia can be challenged for any trophey and still then they could be too strong. By the way is there a 3rd place playoff.

I haven't come accross one person here in OZ that took any delight what so ever in the scoreline between OZ and Fiji, I just hope the people of Fiji are proud of what there team achieved in making the semi's and the courage they showed. applause
