gunnerfranz, not being funny, but if Arsenal played like the Brazil team of the 80s I wouldn't mind at all mate - trophies don't bother me.

But when we play as poorly as we did against Villa, then, that does bother me.

Boyvaze - fair enough, each to their own. If you think that was an interesting first half then I pity the football you are normally subjected to. Sidwell should've scored but his shot was weak and straight at the 'keeper, and the penalty was due to some schoolboy defending - it was fully deserved but what was (Sagna maybe?) thinking about?? So yes, there were some chances (not a contradiction as u normally see more in 5 than that 45) but does that make it "enthralling"? Our heart wasn't in it, and that fed to the fans - albeit we're hardly known for being noisy but Tuesday night was like a carnival. It's easy to be an away fan and sing your hearts out - you make a full day of it and the atmosphere in the away section is always good, win or lose.

Win all the balls you like but you weren't doing anything with them - i'll say it again, I wouldn't read anything in to that, Arsenal deserved to lose as that wasn't an Arsenal side i'm familiar with - they were terrible and had no excuse having had the full week off.

The amount of space Villa gave us, normally we would've carved a team like that up but we just kept giving the ball away. I'm not one to take credit away from a team where it's due. Villa were the better team, I will give you that and won't point to some of the ref's odd decisions (although I just have) but I hope you won't come up an Arsenal side that play like that again - i'd rather go down fighting than just roll over!

To all you so called Arsenal fans, your support is shocking. If I was a fan from our competition I'd be reading on in glee.

Yes there are problems with this team, anyone can see that, but to suggest we get rid of Wenger is laughable. Our club is run the way clubs should be. Not relying on the bankroll of some dodgy russian or bank loans like the Glazers etc....

Well done to Villa, they had us on the day. However I have no doubt we'll finish in the top four and to write us off already in November is just plain stupid.
Our time will come again, we only need a few changes for this team to be great.

Having read most of the comments now I reckon one of the main problems is that we don't really have a star in the team. There was a time when we had the likes of Bergkamp, Henry, Pires etc. Who do we have now? Adebayor? He needs 18 chances before he finally manages to put the ball in the net and I know he scores a fair few but he's a 'poor man's Henry' at best. He's utterly brainless and someone really needs to explain the offside rule to him. Bendtner is just a waste of a man as he's proved time and again. No pace or skill yet still usually produces the goods for Denmark strangely. Even against Utd he was dreadful. Don't reckon Gallas - and he's an arrogant twit as well. Silvestre is exactly what we expected - an ex Utd player who wouldn't have been allowed to go if he was all that, but he's French I suppose. Fabregas looks like he's won a tournament with Spain and is on his way to Barca finally. His contribition was practically zero against Utd and Villa and generally looks like he'd rather be somewhere else. Denilson? Still trying to remember a moment of input from him. Walcott's the closest thing we have to a star but as someone pointed out, his feet tend to out-speed his brain more often than not. Clichy is actually the closest thing we have to consistency, although he has a tendency to do the irrational. Sagna? Okay, I suppose. Robin Van nutcase? Looked lethal a few years ago but is the precise example of product Arsenal that can be got at both mentally and physically - particularly on away days to teams we're expected to cruise past.

In fact we nearly always have to go a goal down to look motivated and look permanently vulnerable at the back.

Funny how even Wenger didn't bother with the 'tweemendous speeweet' speech he normally wheels out - even he's bored of it. Problem is this: I reckon the club is skint. Yep, potless. And I think that's why we have sold instead of bought recently.

Oh, and the fans are worse than they were at Highbury.

arsenal play good football and so do man u and the onl differnce is we win things but arsenal dont. how can u say tophies aint everything ur history is writen on how many trophies u win not in the manner u win them in. all i can say is ur players are not world class and probaly only one of them would fit in our team. this shows u how rubbish u r

The true Arsenal fans should support the team..Win or no win! Almost the whole first team is out injured and we still expect top performance. Get rid of AW and bring in ..Who?
I accept we probably need 1 or 2 good defenders and a solid midfielder but even without these we are still competing for the top spots. I am disappointed when we do not win but Arsenal is my team and AW is a top manager. Tottenham spend millions and ......WHAT have they to show? (Oh the Carling Cup) Just accept the bad days as well as the good and move on...Gunner for live not just at Christmas. Stop moaning you Gallas'ses and support your team
