Live - Saturday's SPL action

Scottish Premier
comment on the article

Good afternoon and a warm welcome to all SPL fans.

We've got five games to tickle your fancy today.

Rangers have the chance to close the gap on SPL leaders Celtic to a point if they can overcome St Mirren at Ibrox.

Hibernian are looking for their first league win in six attempts and manager Mixu Paatelainen will be demanding an improvement when his side take on Aberdeen at Easter Road.

Inverness can close the gap on fourth-placed Hearts with victory over the Jambos and Kilmarnock host high-flying Dundee United - with Craig Levein's men undefeated in 10 games.

Add Falkirk against Motherwell and we've got more than enough to keep us occupied until 4.45pm

You can listen to all the action on BBC Radio Scotland and online (UK only). And, I want your views on the action as it unfolds.

As Alan Partridge would say: "Join me!" news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...

QaterBhoy's obsession with Lafferty continues. He's young, settling in, shown promise and will flourish. Watch this space. You need to get over it ya dobber.

Well done to Rangers...just! Does not bode well! Off out for a nice meal with the wife. Catch you ladies later. have a good weekend.

Lafferty is still young and learning the trade.

Don't you learn something best by doing it?

Case in point: Cillian Sheridan is 19 and already has 3 goals under his belt this season. Strachan has given several other youngsters cameos this season (Mizuno and Mutchison). Walter waits till the last minute and then... does nothing.

Two of them came against Killie's 2nd string back line, they really don't count considering we shipped about 20 goals while they were playing.

Better not Kris Boyd hear you saying stuff like that he'll lose a qaurter of his Rangers goal tally.

In the meantime he's cost more than Samaras, who has scored 10 goals this season despite being injured for the last several weeks! doh

I just don't understand why Smith persists with Adam, McCulloch and ageing players (unless he wants to sell them and needs to remind the world they're alive). Surely it's better to blood the younger players? Miller was clearly having trouble scoring so why not give Lafferty a run and see how he does? Or play Edu instead of McCulloch?

For sure, but you can say that about a lot of players. Larsson for example scored a barrowload of his goals vs Killie as well.

We've been mince at the back for as long as I can remember.

Look give Lafferty a chance. He's not even been allowed to play in his best position yet. He's not a left winger, he's a centre forward. The only reason why he hasn't been allowed to play in his best position yet is due to the form of Miller and Boydy. I thought he played well in the second half against Motherwell in midweek.

As for the rest of the team, we still need a left winger. Adam isn't good enough, Beasley is too lightweight, McCulloch is ok. Bring back Lovenkrands in January Walter.

Oh and whatever has happened to Velicka? He's fit isn't he? Get him on the bench at least. He's a proven goalscorer and is better than Darcheville in my opinion. So far Velicka scored the winner at Falkirk, played decent against Hearts in the second game, and then we'v never seen him since.
