I don't really watch a lot of RL...i guess this is why. I don't want to turn this into a league v union debate but someone said RU was an inferior sport/brand and league should be doing better relatively - nonsense.

I cannot remember seeing a more inept performance from an English team, even if we have a poor union team i know we'll be competitive and do the basics. I used to wish we concentrated solely on union and nicked all league's players, i'd rather not now. Truly terrible. The passing was shameful, no zip or accuracy and the handling shameful.

Hood, don't agree that you can judge a whole sport by the quality of the performance of one team in one tournament.

As for the basics if you want to watch so called technical aspects of a game, scrum after scrum after lineout after long kick then by all minds stick to RU.

Does that include the 76-0 at the hands of Australia a couple of years back ???

Lets face it. We were not very good during any match. This is proberly our best preformance we have played against New Zeland. Come on we know who is going to win this tropey (Australia). England have to realisticly build for 2013. I think thats the world cup where England will be up there with Australia and New Zeland.

The truth is New Zealand were poor. England were woeful. This game was a dreadful game from both sides and England should go back and learn how to play the game.

I agree with this comment that England are a joke. This world cup has been nothing but a holiday for the team. The teams they have come up against have shown them how to play with spirit and skill. Even PNG were more impressive, and England were very lucky to win that match. (two tries were not given to PNG which should have stood, and Stanley Gene and his warriors showed us what pride is. Our lot seemed to have forgotten that rugby is a team game and you don't win trundling up the middle with the ball, being out of position and missing easy catches. In conclusion, except for about 4 players, including Peacock, Higham, Burrows and Westwood, I would not pay them with a packet of peanuts.

super league is a joke, if you want to compete at test level you need to raise your game quite considerably against us aussies. If you consider that rugby league in australia is only big in two states and the talent that gets produced is unbelievable, if you want to get a good example watch the under 20's competition and you will truly see that it is more entertaining than the super league. Half of the imports in the super league would not get a start in the nrl as they are not quite up to the level. In the super league they need to stop having so many imports and have a limited number of imports in each team so more uk players have a chance of coming through playing at the highest level in europe
