Jeremy Guscott's latest column

comment on the article
Scotland coach Frank Hadden

Jeremy Guscott has penned his latest column and with all three southern hemisphere giants in action he believes it's Full Metal Jacket time for the home nations.

He was full of admiration for Scotland's ambition in their defeat by New Zealand last weekend but thinks they face an uphill battle against South Africa.

He thinks it is time for Ireland to step up to the plate and deliver against the All Blacks, and that England will find out on Saturday just what it will take to get back to the top of world rugby.

He has also answered some questions previously posed by 606 users - if you have anything you would like to ask him please do so below.

Yeah. I think because the "British" press don't cover Wales enough you are a bit oversensitive in this case.

Wales v Canada is a rotation game and will not have much bearing on the big ones.

I don't like Guscott much but I think he is one of the fairest and most unbiased of all the English pundits. He always seems to give Wales a fair crack of the whip.

Daio I think he is a plank but a few more well written articles like this and I could change my mind.

Acknowleged Scots did well in defeat

Didnt overhype England

Fair argument of both sides and based all his argumetns on sounds rugby views instead of gut reaction and bath bias.

All in all well done to him. Wales will get their media coverage next week like last week.

Dear Jerry (creep creep)

I think that the Aussie backs will blitz defense tomorow, not like them. But with the midfield power they have they will try to pressure inexperienced Fly Half, Cross and Mortlock don't look like a drift defense to me.

What do you think?

Jezza, who do you see as the potential inside centres for England to develop? I personally think it should be Geraghty as he has too much talent to rot behind Cipriani, Flood and Wilko in the pecking order for the 10 jersey. Outside of Geraghty there is a dearth of options other than Flutey. Do you think it is a problem position for England

Still not sure why Easter is preferred to Haskell at 8. Obviously the former is a lump and can make short yardage but Haskell offers a dynamic alternative and the potential of some game breaking runs. I know he played 6 for Wasps whilst Lol was around but he was always an 8 first. I feel a back row of Croft, Rees and Haskell offers pace, better ball winning and carrying options. Your thoughts Jerry?

Am i the only one who doesn't get excited by Flood? Whenever he has played for England he has been distinctly average (I do think he is a very good fly-half btw). Giving Cipriani the experience seems like the best thing to do. It is all about working towards the 6 nations if you ask me.

joefish41 Easter provides a lot of stability behind the ruck, he sees that the ball is recyled cleanly.

He isn't the greatest athlete in the world but he is very skillful, he is good for England in a Dean Richards type way, maybe not quite as good.

You don't have to like him, but we need him.

Agreed. Never rated Flood at the highest level. Can do some good things but never seems to get all his basics right. Kind of an 'if only . . .' guy. Let's not look backwards - Wilko, Flood Barkley - Cipriani should stay in situ until a new guy comes along

Jeremy do you agree that inside/outside centres, wingers, fullback are specialist positions, especially under pressure at international level and not to be filled by utility backs except on the bench
if so id like you to be shouting more that Tate is an outside centre only, in fact probably the best scince you, one of the few with the pace to break outside his man and pass to his winger at full pace
