Merseyside Stadium. Why not?...

Premier League Everton

comment on the article

FOOTBALL finance chaser Keith Harris believes that a shared stadium could be the answer to Everton and Liverpool’s financial problems.

What do the fans really think? I for one would be in favour of a shared stadium, maybe it could bring our fans together again, like it used to be.

In the past we had banter and a bevy, but these days it is getting out of hand.

This is a passionate article designed to hear both red and blues voicing their opinions so please keep it clean and tell me if your in favour and if so why, on the other hand not in favour and why..

come on lads let it out like we used to... between us and friendly...

We did share a ground with City after Hitler decided to level our stadium (He was only jealous ), the rent on Maine Road almost put us out of business back then (wouldn't City supporters have loved that)

Re Rent(2): That's not a "Ground Share", that's called "Renting" or "Leasing", which is why you were paying "RENT" . doh

Fratton Park still looks like a bomb's hit it. Oh well, I suppose it has 'character', but then so does Timmy Mallet & I wish somebody would nuke him.

A sound argument anyone who wishes Liverpool to be financially secure for the future is not a true fan, and an idiot. I guess that means that anyone wanting the club to be left financially, behind Man U, Chelsea, Man C, and Arsenal, and others to come,is a genius!! I guess we can sort out who is a true fan when Liverpool is struggling to get into top half of the table due to lack of cash for players.

The city council should want to help provide a state-of-the-art stadium with excellent transport links as well as safeguarding 2 longtime city institutions and employers. Glad they aint tho!!

Stan Boardman has been saying this line for years, and often on the BBC, what is wrong with the Manc who keeps removing it?

Had a sense of humour by-pass?

It's only banter, take it on the chin like a man.
(And there-in lies the problem - no chin, not much of a man either)

The big problem here is one that people advocating the joint stadium are glossing over and hoping goes away.

The pitch.

Much has been said of how Milan do things and the way their shared ground works. Newsflash it does NOT. The San Siro is hailed as having one of the worst pitches in Serie A - it never has time to fully recover. Scheduling is a nightmare for them - was it last season that Liverpool had to play an away leg at the San Siro a week late because the schedule of matches at the San Siro demanded it.

Advocates of the ground share state, knowingly, that 'surely' 'in this day and age' technology will provide a solution to the pitch issue. Where is it?. What is it...someone tell me 'cos I'm on the plane to Milan, with the brochure and a winning smile, tomorrow if they do and you know what I'll come home a wealthy man!.

Before everyone gets terribly exercised about how we should all be able to co-exist peacefully for the financial good of both clubs lets, perhaps, make sure the solution is viable first eh?.

Firstly I'm a Liverpool fan and can't get my head around the idea!

There are many arguements for the groundshare, particularly the financial arguement. But that is exactly why I'm not keen, nearly everyone would agree money is playing a very large part in ruining football as we love it so if the financial reasons are the only pro, then it just shouldn't stand.

What about how it works in Rome? Or Milan? Turin? It could even bring the two fans together and develop closer and friendlier rivalries with even more banter!

Firstly, it works in Italy because that is all there is, it's always been like that!

Secondly, it may well create more banter but that doesn't make up for what we'd be losing. 'The idea of a 'kop' would be fine for both teams and the seats could be white'. I don't know of one Liverpool fan that would like that idea. To have a stadium they can't truely call home would be criminal. One of the things that still makes Liverpool unique amongst the US owners, foreign manager and players (who I am fond of) is the atmosphere around Anfield, whether it's against Barcelona in the CL semi's or Fulham on a Saturday midday!

And I'm not for one minute claiming Liverpool are unique and we're the only ones with anything to lose. Everton would be losing their home as well which has an atmosphere and history that rivals anything else in England and fans that most clubs would be jealous of.

Taking a groundshare would just be another step towards full sale of the soul and I for one am losing more and more interest the more the English Premiership and the clubs playing in it starts looking like the NFL. But I guess that's not a problem for some!!

Ground Share! it's the only viable solution for both clubs. The rs yanks are not gonna be able to raise the cash for a decent stadium, and we in our heart of hearts don't wanna go to kirkby. GP is lookin tatty round the edges (god bless 'er!) and soon won't be up to health and safety standards, so let's bite the bullet and do it. We can still hate the rs when we share a ground with themsmiley
