MH, January, and Inconsistency

Don't get me wrong, I want Hughes to stay. But I dont think the biggest problem is tactics. Rather, it is man management. As I said on another post, it is ALL about the transfer window because with 'infinite resources', we can hypothetically replace everyone. That means that good performances have to be rewarded and inconsistent ones have to be punished. Then 'all players need to do' is perform well to stay at the club (within reason).

Where inconsistency and nervousness comes in is when this is called into question. To say, e.g. Garrido is 'definitely out' despite a string of good performances and Elano is 'definitely out' despite having scored 3 goals in the first two games and now being throw in and pulled out whenever and Dunne is 'safe' despite putting in consistently poor performances means that players are of the mind that whatever they do they could still be sold. This makes players needlessly nervous and is not good for performances on the pitch.

Of the twelve games we've played:
Elano on (Prem only): 2-4 (1G), 3-0 (2G), 0-0 (on after up 3-0), N/A (didnt play), 6-0, 1-2 (1A), 2-2 (offer before Kuyt's goal), N/A (didnt play), 3-0, 0-1 (off before second goal), 0-0 (off before both goals), N/A (didnt play).
W3 D3 L3

Elano off: N/A, 0-0, 3-0, 1-3, N/A, 0-0, 0-1, 2-2, N/A, 0-1, 0-2, N/A.
W1 D3 L4

Given that our current record is 4-1-7, I would say that's better than many others...

We look such a more composed, well balanced team with elano spreading the balls around he deserves a run off games at least.

as for Dunne he needs a few games off to get his head right all this talk of getting rid of him is ridiculous, the man has been consistently our best player for four seasons the moment he hits a bad patch of form every city fan is baying for his head. He'll come good again!

as for hughes i think he needs to realise playing this many attacking players with free roles is clearly not going to work, at least not all the time

Hughes has to go, ok hes a good manager and he did well at blackburn, but your really have to look and say ok he is good but we need better than that, and if he cant produce performances we are going nowhere and the whole point of the clubs motive now is to push on and in all honesty mark hughes wont be able to do that.

I just think he is tactically inept, for example putting richards at right back when garrido was out with a small kock, micheal ball is a perfectly decent cover for garrido and it also keeps richards at centre back where he is so much more effective and strong then ben haim in all respect. Aswell as this playing shaun wright-philips out of position so that vassel can play wide right, when him also in all honesty is not good enough for the club he just isnt up to standard, dropping elano after decent performances also stands out to me. Another factor when in the liverpool match zabeleta was sent off fernades is brought on at right back which in effect i think cost us the game, hughes could have brought on ben haim, ohonua or even switched richards out to right back for the remainder of the game but took a huge risk on fernandes who also well in my opinion is a very "lightweight" player.

Hughes and his tactics wont get us anywhere we want to go in this league and at the moment are form is that of a team fighting for relegation and with the next three league games hull who have been playing well and been unlucky to lose recently, arsenal and united are three games where i can easily see no points being collected and then maybe an actual relegation battle on our hands.

Shocking defeats to borough, bolten and wigan are not good enough for a team wanting to push forward and i think hughes has had his time been tested and its time for him to go because simply he isnt good enough for us!

kcfc-1994-mufc...
speaking as a red i think hughes will be gone unless they get a result against united.

YOU ARROGANT TIT!!!! like our only dream is beating you lot!! We did that quite a few times of late to my recolection!! hughes may not lead us to success against you lot, but who cares! as long as we are challenging for europe etc then its all good! there is plenty of time for us to "get one over" on you when we are winning the champions league in the future!! ; )

"..when garrido was out with a small kock.."
Really? Is that a kind of injury? He'll be a bit upset that it's public knowledge now.

Apologies to the original poster for this. Just couldn't resist. No offence meant at all..

I agree the talk of Dunne going is out of order, he has been great for the club but I can understand supporter's frustration with him of late, having this feeling of frustration with him myself.

I don't think he should be captain personally, I don't think with his current frame of mind he is up to the pressure, I think we need a new captain, someone to take this pressure off Dunne and maybe even to kick him into form and tell him what he needs to do.
