Congrats India. We have regained the Border Gavaskar Trophy which we lost 4 years ago.

The Fab 4 have done a wonderful job under pressure. Sachin, VVS and Ganguly had averages well over 50 in this series,

Thank you Dada and Jumbo. We will miss you.

Sachin and VVS are in good nick and hopefully they will be around for some 2 years and complete the transition.

Rahul - We want you in form and soon.

Most of all our captaincy has been handed to a competent and most of all a mature man who doesnt get overjoyed at wins or despondent over losses. He played a wondeful innings yesterday and put the match beyond the reach of australia.

Let this be the starting point for our quest to becoming the next World Champions.

For NOW, Three cheers to the Fab 4.
Three cheers to India.

If you think Indians doctored the tracks to suit their spinners to win matches, have a look at India- Australia match at Perth that India won.
After the Sydney fiasco which the Oz won with buckhnor's help, Australia in the 6 tests that followed Sydney failed to win even a single test. India won 3.
To everyone who say that the Indian team is on the decline, let me remind you that Gautham Gambhir was the highest run getter in this series with over 450 runs though he played only 3 tests. He was also the highest run getter in the last CB ODI series in Australia which the Indians with young blokes won. Ishant Sharma is the highest wicket taker in this series.
For the English clowns who keep ranting, you guys haven't even won the world cup of the game you invented. What a pity

you were doing so well until you resorted to a cheap insult. there are many games we invented, that the world has overtaken us on, as we participate in so many sports.

I agree with you, India, in India are a formidable force, either with or without the wickets to suit their players.... it's how they travel will always be the key to being world number 1... only the Aussies have done this well.....

Well played India, they are looking to be a strong team these days, and have exposed Austrailia as being a shadow of their former selves.

Let's not forget that India has the uncanny habit of throwing away momentum. One day we beat Australia, the next day we may loose to Bangladesh. Before India can call itself a World Champion, it needs to beat every nation both home and away for consistently long time.

Indian's have put the right foot forward in the right direction. They have an able leader who can inspire the dressing room. All they need to do now is to take one series at a time and keep repeating the magic which we witnessed in this series with both the bet and the ball.

India's biggest plus at this moment is their bench strength. They need to keep rotating the players. Next year's tour to South Africa will be a real test. We will need to wait to see how the report card will turn out.

Until then, enjoy the moment. You guys deserved to win.

THese days I mostly search for Pearlswingers comments. Though he doesnt give a $hi* about the Indian series, I value his comments and its really satisfying to know how jealous a person can get of Indian success. I love it when people like him show the natural feeling of jealousy. I guess its more joyous than winning against Australia.Keep it up pearl.

Well played India. The Aussies had every chance of winning the last match - India lost her best batsman and the we FINALLY selected a proper spinner who took 12 wickets, and still we lost. A credit to India for holding her nerve.

But in the words of Arnold Swarzeneggar: we'll be back.

This is the best time for England to play India as fatigue will come in to play.

I woke up this morning almost half expecting to read "Aussie's win epic after record run case". But to my surprise and delight India had found what had been missing over the past few years a “self belief”.
India now have a captain in charge who inspires the team on and off the pitch, which is something we have lacked in the past.
Dravid/ Kumble- Fantastic players, but defensive mindsets which at times cost India when they could have gone for the kill in games.
Ganguly- overemotional, his record prior to taking the captaincy was a lot higher and it seemed to add unneeded pressure on the team when he used to fail or at times let the situation get to him and over attack.
So that moves us on to Mr Dhoni, what makes him different to the others?
Well…in a way he just doesn’t care! I remember reading a quote from the 20/20 WC final from Joginder Sharma when he had to bowl the last over to win the game.
He said that his captain told him “Don’t worry and just bowl I don’t care if we win or lose just bowl as well as you can”
At times of pressure you need your captains to inspire you and that is what India currently have a inspirational leader who will make bold decisions and not care about the repercussions of his actions.
As for all this talk about England winning the Ashes…Or if India our now the best team in the world. I think both statements could be true but let us wait and see.
Can India maintain this momentum away? Our England really ready psychologically? Our South Africa just waiting to crash the party?
The great thing about this result is that people have stopped talking about this stupid waste of time 20/20 thing and Tests have become the centre of attention for discussion again, this for crickets future is a very important thing!

This is no time for us to fight and to argue, Australia are a great team no doubt, but they were outplayed on the day and in the series. I am mighty proud to be an Indian today. Lets just toast our victory, and congratulate both teams on an enthralling series. We however need to stay focused and try to win top spot and hopefully eventually be world champions again. Without a doubt, Australia will bounce back as they always do, they are still a great side; I just hope we give them a run for their money and beat them to top spot in the rankings - fair and square.

But the main thing I want to write about is that we should take some time out from bickering and the like to celebrate the careers of two legends who would have given their lives for the cause.

Firstly, the legend that was Sourav Chandidas Ganguly. Rarely do we come across such a gem of a strokeplaying left-hander. Sure, he was erratic outside the off-stump, but so often it did come off and didnt he produce some of the best sixes on the off-side that you have ever seen? When I think of Sourav, first my mind always goes back to the NatWest Series Final of 2002 (Legendary series between Ind, Eng, SL; http://www.cricinfo.com/database/ARCHIVE/2002/OD_TOURNEYS/NWS/SCORECARDS/ENG_IND_NWS_ODI-FINAL_13JUL2002.html ). Kaif and Yuvraj took us home and everyone focused on their knocks which albeit brilliant would have not won us the game had Ganguly not set it all up with a quickfire 60 off 43 balls. Next I think of his comeback (obviously): Anyone else who was thrown out and disrespected so blatantly despite being such a great servant of their country would have washed their hands of cricket, he definitely didnt need the money anymore. But he was so bound to the cause that the best captain ever just kept chomping away at the bit until he got another chance, and he, sure enough, seized it with both hands. Dada, God Bless You, We Love You, All the best. Today I say a teary-eyed farewell to the Greatest Captain we have ever had. That was not what you deserved. You were worth it. You deserved more. I am sorry for the state of our cricket administration today and it makes me ashamed.
Rahul Dravid once said: "On the off-side, first there is God, then there is Ganguly." I have never seen, and I doubt I will ever see the ball come so sweetly off the willow as I have seen it come off Sourav's bat. All Hail our hero, the Prince of Kolkata. http://content-www.cricinfo.com/india/content/player/28779.html . Need I say more?

And next, Anil Kumble. Have we ever seen someone who tried so hard? Despite not being overtly talented, he always gave his heart, he gave his all for our country. And he turned out to be a brilliant captain when called upon. He never shied away from what needed to be done. Someone said on 606 a few days ago, "He was the Steve Waugh of bowling." I apologize for not remembering who you are, but if you read this, stand up and take credit because you are so right. God Bless you Jumbo you loyal servant. We will always remember you taking Wasim Akram's wicket to seal that unforgettable day, and cement your place in the record books alongside the great Jim Laker, only you are even greater, you legend. God Bless You:

This pearlswinger is pretty boring.

And why should I have a beer with someone who behaves like a C*** on the field but thinks it is all cool because you can have a beer afterwards. If you're a **** then you're a ****.

Australia have been beaten in a royal manner and whilst the players can handle it - the rest e.g. the fans and the media can not.
