Slow over rate cost the match for Aus

International Tests India

This is the second time the slow over rate has prevented Australia from taking grip of the match.

In Perth, in the second innings india were almost out of the match @ 5-125 and 6-160. However due to slow over rate Ponting had to resort to Micheal Clarke and Symonds for quickly finishing overrs. The result was the last 4 added 134 runs. Laxman Dhoni put on a good partnership and helped India post 294.
And australia lost by 72 runs.

In Nagpur today, with a lead of 252, India were 6 down just before tea. Howevere due to slow over rate Ponting had to resort to Hussey, Clarke and Krejza. This eased the pressure on Harbhajan and Dhoni and helped them add another 130 runs. Ponting coulndt attack because of his slow over rates. If he had India may well have been bowled for around 200 and australia could have a relatively easy chase. In fact Ravi shastri mentioned that Ponting could have attacked with his top bowlers and risk being banned for the next test @ the Gabba against New Zealand.

Cyclone, you really think that there is a realistic chance of Australia getting the runs? If they go for it the series result will end up being 2-0 rather than 1-0. Dhoni's eyes will light up at Australia suiciding going for an impossible target.

India is the new world champion in cricket - they have proved it with depth, a nonchalance, and an air of aggression balanced with gentlemanship

Indians living in England and Australia have remained the sidekicks to their respective adopted places, since they have no freedom of speech there - Truth be told - India dominated Auatralia totally

India studied Australian ways and tactics for a decade and imbibed the good ones and the net result is "India is the best" - the skeptics will point out how about Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka, we won the ODI's - we lost the tests - it is an outlier in India's amazing feats over the last 5 years

Englnad stands no chance whatsoever against India - I suggest they can list their excuses upfront, so that pundits can tick mark and dismiss them later as a non-issue

stop this nonsense about what will happen when fab 4 leaves etc - the Fab 3 will play for another 3 years - their very prsence cna enable India to win - there are some No-Dravid, No-Laxman , No-Tamilnadu lobbies in Indian cricket - But M Vijay, Badrinath, Dravid and Laxman will continue to play since Srikkanth is a scholar - his two move shave been successful since taking over as selector chief - He brought back Ganguly and then M Vijay, both of which clicked - Kiran More and Vengsarkar, would have selected Chopra or Raina - this would have played into Aussie hands

Leave the team selection to Srikkanth, the Tamilnadu scholar

Fairandbalanced, that's what we heard last time England toured. You were going to beat England's Ashes squad 3-0, so the 3rd XI that finally turned up need not even bother taking the field. In fact, you ended up being grateful to salvage a 1-1 draw.

The sad fact is that India is a mid-table side and are beating the weakest Australian team for many years. Right now, India, Australia and South Africa are disputing the top three places in the international Test table, but India will, as they always have, fall short. Right now they are about to go through their own, deep renovation, allowing South Africa to overtake both Australia and India at the top.

Australia should go for the win as losing 2-0 is same as losing 1-0. And I think they will, if they have any pride. Half measures will not do. Trying to save the match midway will be like Tendulkar testing his brakes in his ludicrous run out today; by the time you get back the door is inevitably bolted.

Ponting has made a big mistake again. The Austrlian selectors should realise that its time for Ponting to step down. If Australia salvage a draw it will be good for Ponting & Co. The momemt Aussies try to up the runrate they will start losing wickets.Dhoni also has option of settin a 8:2 field so that run can be hard to come. I beleive it will be thrilling last days play.

yeah theres no way they will get 360+ . If you think that, then you dont know cricket. This isnt limited overs with field restrictions or leg side wides. If Oz (god forbid) have a VERY good session - maybe 120 runs for 1 wicket then Dhoni will just shut up shop (as he's entitled to after Punters tactics this series) he'll have an 8-1 field and just get his bowlers to bowl outside offstump with 5 guys on the off side boundary and get his bowlers to bowl at the over rate that Oz have used. Wouldnt look nice, and he might get some flak, but its only what Oz would do. They'd probably bring on Trevor Chapell to bowl underarm !

Ricky Ponting must go!

India are now in the driver seat! Australia cannot win this Test; all India need to do is contain to seal the end of an amazing dynasty!

Cheers!
