We did well. We have some light at the end of the tunnel. Some real potentuial stars. Sackey is a superb winger - probably the best in the NH judging by current form. All that stick about not being able to score tries......

Wales did well, but against a rusty SA - but really, nowhere near the potential they claim. The best player was Byrne - superb. Shane was poor, Hook was worse.

Well done to Italy for a stunning game against Australia.

Englands new blood must make the other worried.... first time they have played as a team..... I think I may enjoy the six nations this comming year....

It was a step forward Juggler, We need to tighten up in the pack for Oz because only a fool tries to play Australia at their own game. I don't want to see Tom Croft hanging out on the wing like Harinordinquoy used to. When Tom did get stuck in he did weel and turned over some good ball. More grind less posing please Mr Croft, it like Will Greenwood said, play the number on your back.

As for cipriani's defence, I stand by what I said, it was infectual and Robbie Deans will have taken note.

"ita all very well making excuses for mr cipriani. if he didn't have so much to say for himself he might not attract so much crticism.
the fact of the matter is he had plenty time to kick the ball away on saturday but stepped to his left to kick which has to take him towards trouble. i would have thought an "intelligent young man" might have sussed that. "

Erm!

He's a left footer, Fluety passed it onto his right which would have meant a kick down the middle of the park and couging up ball.

He did the right thing by stepping left, he was just unlucky, these thigns happen - look at hook on saturday that interception could easily have been 5 points the other direction.

As for him having a lot to say for himself? Since when? he's almost never in the press being interviewed.

I smell a sun reader who thinks a photo in a newspaper and the comments that go with it represent the truth.

idiot.

>>> Also, for all we know Johnson was picking what he sees to be his 2nd XV for the PI match. I wouldn't imagine so, but it is possible considering he isn't allowed to start any one player in all four tests. <<<

Is this actually the case?
--------------------------------

As far as I know it is, I remember reading something a while back about the agreement for these AIs and it did include no one player starting all four tests. Maybe it's changed since then or maybe my memory fails me, it would be good news, but I believe it to be the case.

Everyone has been far too pessimistic about England's game against the PIs. The latter played a greta game of rugby and all and sundry are discounting them as a scratch slide that had just a week'sprep. England then are also a scratch side with 2 weeks prep, lots of new faces and not that well prepared [ditto PIs]. Our scrum did well against a front 3 that weighed over 60 stones and although we could have done better at the breakdown abnd cleared out quicker ball, we will do that next weekend because that is now on the radr big time. If we don't smash Australia at the scrum and get them on the backfoot i will eat my hat. In addition they have just lost 2 key backs through injury. C'mon lets talk England up!!

Indeed.

Everyone can talk about it being a game against a scratch side, but last time England played a scratch side was the Baabaas last summer.

They could only have dreamed of a performance like the one last weekend.

And a lot of the guys from last weekend played in that Baabaas game, just with no direction and no ideas.

England 17-14 Barbarians (2-2 tries).

Remember that.

England 39-13 Pacific Islands (5-1 tries).

This is already how much better England are than they were just a few months ago.

Sackey a superb winger !!!? He's a good finisher but needs to work hard on his defence or quality teams like NZ or SA will be running in tries down his wing again e.g. Sackey's defence was at fault for two of Wales' tries in last years 6 Nations game.

I watched Barnes and Morris rip into England on Sky sports last night and it reminded me of november 2001 when Oz had just scraped past the lions while using ever dirty trick in the book and an overconfident England had been caught cold in Landsdowne Road.

Barnes and morris are the ultimate rats leaving the sinkng ship at the slightest hint of adversity. They are also prone to undue panic and they'll never support a team that is in need of support. they are the last people you;d what watching your back in a fight becasue they'd be gone at the first sign of trouble.

So come 4:30pm when Borthwick is lifting the cooke cup please spare a thought for Barnes and Morris as they scuttle back on board the good ship England all to keen to share in the celebrations!

Clive Woodward pointed out SKY's two faced antics in 2001 and it was amusing seeing Dewi Morris' and Mark Durden Smith's ashen faces after the interview. Johnno isn't as recklessly hot blooded as Clive so i doubt it'll happen on saturday, but I'll be thinking about it and having a bit of a chuckle.

SKY, you do yourselves no favours. hire more people like Will Greenwood and get rid of the rodents.

If Stevo and Eddie Hemmings can get behind the England rugby league team in Oz then you'd think Barnes and Morris could get behind our Union side who have every chance of winning tommorrow. You two guys really are THE PITS!

Captain I agree watching the rugby club was annoying! Felt like shouting at them to get behind the team!

"namestebuzz...I'm taking it you dont watch or know much about rugby??? ...i dont know what really happens in your world however in reality things take time. so give them time."

Well England were ponderous again this week against good opposition - and were well beaten. Shows how little I know...
