Shanghai Jo Watch-vs Del Potro TUE 10 AM

comment on the article

General
Jo is coming off possibly the best week in his career behind the Australian open forthnight. He produced a glorious run to the final beating Djokovic again and taking the scalp of Nalbandian to clinch a spot in the season ending tournament with the 8 best players of the year (excluding Rafa who is sadly injured).

Jo has been given the easier group in my opinion.First up is the consistent baseliner Davydenko in what should prove to be the trickiest tie in my opinion with Djokovics Season fading fast.Djokovic is up second and after winning consecutive matches against him surely Jo will fancy his chances of beating the World Number 3.He will play the ever improving Argentinian in what could be a match of the future with surely man more ties between these two prospects...Jo loseS in 3 sets to Davydenko and Must win his second match vs Del Potro to stand a chance of progression into the semi-finals

i saw the game and found tsonga is a good player
yes he made too many unforced errors but it happens to have an off day
tsonga is talentd butso are many other players
hes shown that he lacks consistence for now but he has ability to go far

del Potro has no game whatsoever, just a baseline grinder - 15 winners in two TB sets says it all. Tsonga was really tired, physically as well as mentally, he does not usually play the big points as badly as he did today. He already looked spent at the end of the Davy match.

Too bad for JW today. What a joy his game is. Full of emotion and elan. A pleasant contrast from the grim, grind it out style and clinical, workmanlike approach of Nadal and Federer.

Does del Potro have the ability to develop a more varied game, incorporating more net approaches to complement his baseline strength?

Que?!?!?!

I have never heard of an anglo-saxon way of playing tennis. It would only make sense to introduce that term if the English, Americans, and Australians all play or have historically played in a similar style. This is not the case: their players of name (Sampras, Rafter, Agassi, Courier, McEnroe, Connors, Laver, Roddick, the Williams sisters, Henman, need I go on) all have different styles and if anything they share a likeness for attacking and fast tennis.

The description above more suits something that I would call Hispanic tennis - a large number of the Spanish and South American claycourters definitely come from one recognizable school of tennis.

The only advantage to the overtly nonsensical postings here is that they offer a quick guide to the tennis knowledge of their authors and so to what and what not to read.

I've been to Shanghai and I KNOW there is at LEAST one good sock shop that Stepanek could have gone to. I suspect some kind of ruse
