Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, released an amended calendar for the 2009 season. The revised schedule for the 17-race championship sees the Chinese Grand Prix move from its traditional October slot to an April date, the Shanghai race now taking place a week before Bahrain.

The FIA also revealed later start times for the opening two rounds, with the Australian and Malaysian Grands Prix both getting underway at 1700 hours local time. Near the end of the season, the Japanese Grand Prix will also commence at the later time of 1500 hours.

The season finale, meanwhile, will still take place in Abu Dhabi, but the race will be held two weeks earlier than previously announced, on November 1.

WDC HAMILTON-
Only reason why Spain is having 2 GP's is because popularity of Formula 1 in Spain has vastly increased ever since Alonso became WDC. And also they are ready to pay enough money to host 2 GPs.

When Michael Schumacher was in Formula 1, Germany used to have 2 races, one at Hockenhein and other at Nurburgring.

If popularity of Formula 1 increases significantly in Great Britain with Lewis Hamilton becoming WDC, then I'm sure there will 2 GP for you'll. Provided Bernie gets enough $$$$$ from race organisers.

Fair comment however this track in Valancia is garbage. But I still say that the european GP should be rotated around europe. I am sure there are alot more F1 fans in other countries in europe than Spain seeing as it has a population of 40 million.

I'm surprised Finland doesn't have a GP based on the amount of drivers they produce.

Its a shame they moved Brazil away from the end I always thought it was a good place to finish. No doubt someone in UAE payed a ridiculous amount of cash for that honour.

I think having the final race at an new and untried circuit is a mistake. Look at hope amazingly tedious the Valencia race turned out to be despite the hype. Imagine how bad it would be if that had been the track where the decider was held this year? Keep Brazil last. The last race needs to be at a decent track with the potential for overtaking and where weather can be a factor.

OK, I realise the last race isn't always the decider, but still, let's not risk the last race being a procession at one of these boring, flat, "stadium" tracks that are becoming all too common in the calendar.

I cannot see why Spain has 2 grand prixs, when they cannot acknowledge a black world champion without some sort of racist abuse, which to be frank is not restricted to F1. I'm also struggling to see Spain's background or history in F1 apart from Alonso...i'd much rather see a usa and or canada back. also a french one would be good. france has a good history of F1. However, as heard from the great rug himself, there is no racism in spain. i'm sure money has nothing to do with it.
By the way, don't hold your breath for the british gp at donnington. i live about 2 miles from the place, and i've yet to see, hear or get a rumour of planning consent or a barrow of tarmac turning up.

Valencia is rubbish so is china. Canada is the most unpredictable race of the year.

There's a 4 week gap between Hungary and Valencia on next years calendar. Don't expect Canada to make a return but would really like it to be there. Wouldn't be surprised to see another race shoe horned in.
With slicks coming back perhaps we could take the safety chicanes oout of tracks like Monza and also reinstate the old Hockenheim high speed circuit.

Youll have a job. Where the old hockenheim was, is now trees, they ripped it up when changing the circuit.
