Lfc fan here, i am not a bitter and twisted sort like blue (London) and red (devil) fans. You won because you deserved to, forced the carra error and bent chased a reina parry. We controlled the game for 70-75 mins but could not get the 2nd, it happens to everyone.

PS - I like harry he deserves all the plaudits he gets, not often we get beaten but harry made changes and they worked, sadly i dont think ours did on this occasion.

Liverpool aren't top any longer because Chelsea have scored a truck load more goals and conceded damn all. The best team in England is currently on top on merit. The play to control the lion's share of possession and never sit back...Isn't this the football all you girls have dreamt of. Whats more impressive is that this has been achieved without four or five first team players available every week since the league began. There have been games where Liverppol didn't really deserve to win but scraped home, Chelsea have dominated all of their games and played openly, Liverpool ironically tried this against Spurs and lost. I wonder what would've happened if they had done the same against Chelsea, At Anfield they will have to attack against the Blues and this will suit Chelsea, also Ballack, Drogba and Carvalho should be back and perhaps Essien. United are Chelsea's biggest long term threats, but at least Pool have cost United and can hopefully repeat this.

The EXACT same formation! Chelsea simply occupied LFC more in attack than Spurs did. How ironic then that Spurs SCORED more than Chelsea created against the reds.

As for LFC being lucky, goal disallowed v Stoke cost us 2 points! How lucky?

Can't score without Torres/Gerrard...
We've beaten Chelsea without Torres and Man U without Torres or Gerrard.

What other myths need exploding?

I can't believe we didnt even get a point against Spurs. Be honest, L'pool deserved that at least. They just lacked the finish or a bit of luck on Saturday. Not blaming the heavy rain but you can't play decent football in that weather ! Not blaming Carra but he has now scored as many goals for SPURS as he has for the Pool !! Three each I think.

Torres needs to get his sharpness fast, so at least we will get more options on attack. Right now, Babel, Keane and Kuyt is not getting the job done, although Kuyt has taken his chances in recent games, which is nice to see. Its a long season, so lets put this behind us and get on with it.

We all know Spurs were a bit fortunate but Liverpool didn't create many clear cut chances by their own play. The obvious ones were Alonso's header, Kuyt's lunging toe poke and Gomes tipping onto the post. The rest were Spurs making horrendous errors. But we were bottom, Pool were top and are contenders for CL & PL. Wot is likely to happen - we dominate and win 3-1 - I don't think so. Also weird substitutions by Beni at funny times.

Londons Finest ...

Whats more impressive is that this has been achieved without four or five first team players available every week since the league began.

---------------

This could stand as a good arguement, if it was from any team apart from Chelsea.
Your 2nd string team is worth more than most of the premierships clubs.
If 2nd stream means such as Ballack out, Deco in (as an example).

Fair play - you have scored a heap of goals and on goal difference you quite deservidly are above us, because of that, but be careful on your comments...
I would suggest that we have an easier run of games(if that means anything) left over, and usually, where the premiership can be decided on the results on what you get from playing the big 4, then we are currently on 100% success so far for those games.

Things are far from over at this stage.smiley

Liverpool were the best team I have seen at WHL this season. We were outplayed for 60 minutes and on another day,we could have lost 3-0 or 4-0.Spurs will play better and lose.Liverpool will play worse and win.Thank God (Harry),Torres wasn't playing.
I hope the title is a 3 club race...Gooners have no chance! Spurs missed Jenas, too.

No, we outplayed you with plenty of chances, not just the ones you got to see on MOTD. If you're trying to state otherwise, you're on your own.

This again, dragging it on and on. If you had him, him, him and him playing it would be different. How many times could we have said ifs and buts we would have won? What is this about five players out? A guarantee you will win every game?

Thing is you didnt and had to carry on. you didnt need them after demolishing Boro, Hull and Sunderland, your team then made mincement out of your opponents. Regardless who was in the team, you came against a well defended LFC fortress which you couldnt breach. We dont have to come out and attack and it wouldnt make any difference if they had to.

Just hearing about waiting for the return match at Anfield like some vengenance date, which sounds more and more like sour grapes from being beaten. Laughed at us for not doing so, calling us inferior to you then when we do it's because players were missing and we didnt attack and the parrot who flew onto the pitch....

A great result. Yes we rode our luck & yes Liverpool had more than enough chances to put the points beyond reach...but they didn't. A few years ago, once we'd conceded, our heads would have gone down and we'd have capitulated. We aren't doing that now. We stuck to the task in mid-week, did it again at the weekend and took points from games we'd been written out of.

I haven't read too much of these comments so quite while Chelsea fans are butting in I don't know but, despite the fact that you're playing well, you lost to Liverpool. At home. Liverpool caught us at a time when our confidence is soaring, you don't have the luxury of that excuse. Yes you had players out...so what? The manager picks the best players available to beat their opponents...yours failed that day. Sniping at Liverpool now sounds like sour grapes.

We're still not out of trouble & there's a long way to go yet. But it's a start. A very good one.

Hmm.

While Liverpool were comfortable for 65-70mins, they failed to finish off Spurs. Benitez's changes (like Wenger's, days earlier) seemed a little naive to me. Harry's not a roll-over-and-die manager, and resting on laurels with a one (or even two, in the case of Arsenal) goal lead seems plain stupid to me.

In fairness, Benitez's changes weren't as complacent as Wenger's, but both managers paid the price of taking their teams' superiority for granted. In that sense, Spurs were indeed lucky, but invoking "luck" as a cure-all excuse for failing to beat a team you should've easily beaten is just a convenient rationalisation of bad management.

Both Wenger and Benitez were, to different extents, critical of their players' inability to put the game beyond doubt. I personally haven't earned my coaching badges, but in my non-expert opinion, their own inability to admit their mistakes might be an indicator why both teams have struggled to meet their potential in recent years.

Don't get me wrong, both managers have assembled excellent, balanced squads of talented players, who - for the most part - play very good football. But after results like this against Spurs - who could easily have been buried before half time in both matches - it's hard to comprehend fans who maintain their manager's infallibility.
