Bradford Performance

League Two Bradford City

Before I start my rant, praise has to be given to Barnet as they were by far the better team today and were unfortunate not to get the 3 points, we were outplayed, outmuscled...everything!

Right...why do we seem so inept at home to perform?! I know our 2 main wingers were out but surely we can still keep the ball and not have to 'hoof' it every time one of the defenders get hold of the ball!

We are missing Bullock in the middle - we have nobody who is willing to put their foot in, Furman just runs around aimlessly while McClaren just sits in front of the back 4 and doesn't seem to ever influence the game.

If it wasn't for our clinical finishing today, we would have lost.

Both full-backs for us today were non-existent and Barnet's wingers past them with ease.

I don't agree with McCall's view that he seems to want accomodate our better players in positions they are not familiar with e.g Moncur at Right Back, Michael Boulding as a Left Winger. Personally, we should be playing the best players for that position, so Arnison should have been our Right Back and I would have played young Taylforth as the left winger.

Thankfully, we are somehow still 3rd and we haven't really played well yet this season!

There is still light at the end of the tunnel....

Bower, Brandon, Bullock, Colbeck, Daley, Heckingbottom injured

Oh! And apparantly McClaren hurt his knee during yesterday, Nix isn't fuly fit and now Furman is out.

In other words we need a little perspective!!

Darth.

McCall didn't paly Boulding as a left winger. We played with 3 up. Didn't you see Thorne and Boulding, frequentley interterchanging - especially in the first half.

Our problem was that first goal. Like the Rochdale one last season (Clarke pass bacK) if you concede 'joke' goals - the opposition see you as fair game. So from that moment on the defence were nerevous (although Lee had a good game)

Moncur at right back is questionable and i think he should be dropped. It may also be time for Heckingbottom to come back. In addtion i would play Bower with Lee and have Clark (Ben) in as a defensive midfielder in place of Furman. Then (presuming he is fit) McClaren can do the role he does best an ATTACKING midfielder. Thorne or Boulding partner Bazza - who's physical present we need whislt we have all these lightweights elswhere on the pitch

The whole lets get things into perspective realoly really annoys me.

Moncur is a centre back, Tom Clarke a right-back. Moncur should have been hauled off to protect him.

I know this seems harsh to say but if we do go up this season it will be in spite of McCall not because of him

He's reactive rather than proactive, personally I think his tactics are a bit of a joke. If you want to shoot me down then go ahead but if we keep playing with a lack of direction then we WILL be heavily beaten at Wycombe and Rotherham

You remind me of the Carlisle fans!! A few bad results and the managers rubbish!!

Getting things into 'perspective' is what has kept the likes of Man U successfull - after all Fergie could have been sacked any time during his first 4 years. Scunthorpe appearing to follow a similar policy, as do Wolves and Birmingham and guess what?? Surprise! Surprise they are all doing well

We could of course follow your impatience and go through Managers faster than most people change underwear. A bit like Spurs or Newcastle or Chester. The type of teams who change their managers after a 3-3 home draw!! And never make any progress of any kind

Did you see us under Todd or Robson? If so you should welcome a thousand games like the last two, rather than that negative dross we delivered for 4 years

"Moncur is a centre back, Tom Clarke a right-back. Moncur should have been hauled off to protect him"

Now i'm even more confused!! Last time i looked Clark's best position was Centre-Back!!

Oh! And who was going to be 'hauled off'?? That other Clarke, who has been just as culpable for our defensive shortcomings

Of course, with our unavailable players we should be doing a lot better than 3rd, shouldn't we??!!

Finally, we might lose the Wycombe and Rotherham games - quite honestly, if we can win those games without our key players then we are far better than we think we are

Or perhaps a more 'realistic' outlook is needed, i.e. if we are within 3 points of the Top 3 come January 31st, then that is fine, considering the injury's we have

Perspective, might be a source of frustration. A classic line used by Politicians trying to save their skin. However, it is something that a team who had 7 and a bit years of terrible results needs to have

Did you know that we've taken 77 points from our last 45 games?

Terrible! Isn't it???

I'm confused

Firstly let me make it clear I don't want to sack McCall, I'm saying what I've said for a while that just because he is a city legend it doesn't mean I can't criticise him.

At Grimsby Clark came on and played on the right side of defence and Moncur in the middle, were you not there to see it????

On Saturday Moncur was very poor on the right and should have been replaced by Arnison (a natural right back????)

The game was drifting in the second half and we needed tio make a change, instead McCall left it and they equalised. He then turns round and says there was nobody on the bench who could have changed things......excuse me but we have Willy Topp who McCall refuses to put in the squad who can certainly give you something different, we had Osbourne on the bench who has apparantly shown more than Topp recently so why not throw him on?

I can criticise McCall as he messed up on saturday tactically no doubt about it, just because he's McGod it doesn't mean he can't be criticised

I'll crticise McCall at any time, when he has no more than around a couple of long term injured players

Topp not in the side, becasue he's not good enough. If he was, as a naturally gifter striker (??!!) he would have put away that chance against Luton, as the final whistle (imagine the reaction if Bazza had missed that!!)

Actually, the only thing i will crticise McCall for is the ludricrous signing of Topp.

Please explain how Topp would have helped a midfield that was down to just TWO fully fit midfield players (rememeber McClaren was carrying a knee injury for some of the game). None of which (Law and Nix) are particularly defensive

What would your formation have been, 4-2-4???!!! I suppose attack is a form of defence

I am being a bit unkind, but i think you are too quick to be crtical

Still is suppose compared to the fans at Carlise and our rivals you are a Saint!!

I'm saying we never got out of our half in the 2nd half the equaliser was inevitable unless he changed something. He didn't and surprise surprise they equalise, the whole ground could see it coming and many were screaming for a change to be made, why couldn't mccall see it?

Like I say I'm just wanting a bit of a balance i'm entitled to criticise mccall because i think he's tactically inept, i don't think we should sack him though because our club has been through enough without seeing the need to chop and change our managers

"the 2nd half the equaliser was inevitable unless he changed something"

Granted, but what exactly could he change. We had no other defensive midfield options. He could take a risk and ask Clark to play in midfield (i.e. take Boulding off) and then bring Matt Clarke on. But centre-halves only ever come on if there are injuries, for a good reason, it's hard to read the game when you've missed the first hour

Yes, we could see the equaliser coming, but if you rememeber he had made a change. Unfortunately it was enforced as Furman had to go off - which weakened the midfied further

When he altered the tactics at Shrewsbury for good rational reasons he was crucified. Nobody took into account that one of the reasons it didn't work was becasue of that crazy inept decision making of the ref. But of course, because we lost, it meant that he was crucified for daring to do something different. So that means he isn't tactically inept if he would dare to play a 4-3-3 and with Colbeck and Daley why not

He also didn't appear to be tactically inept when he brought Conlon on against Accrington!!

Sorry. But you remind me of the Terriers fans who, unless they are winning every game playing Brazilian type football are not happy.

During the last year we've shown the same type of form as the team that ended up 5th

We've got the worst injury list i can remember in years, yet are in a promotion place

I suggest McCall is getting plenty right and a little bit wrong, i.e. 80/20 split

All i ask is that peoples postings reflect this!!!
