India v Australia - day four

International Tests
comment on the article

Welcome to the BBC thread for day four of the third Test between India and Australia in Delhi.

Pranav's live text: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cri...

And what a day this promises to be.

Australia hung on for dear life on day three, batting fantastically to keep themselves in the match after India's mammoth first-innings total.

With only four Australian wickets down, the most likely outcome of this Test is a draw, which would keep the series alive going into the final match Kanpur.

But you never know...

India will go in search of early wickets and if Australia collapse early doors without gaining to 75 runs they need to avoid the follow-on, India will sense victory.

On the other hand, should Australia bat out the majority of the day, and possibly even gain a lead, it is difficult to see them being beaten.

Let us know your thoughts on the action and we will try to use any many comments as we can within Pranav's live text.

That was Australia's highest ever score in India, so either the Aus batting was brilliant or the Indian bowling/fielding was poor, maybe both, take your pick.

Australia is desperate - they even comment on Ishant being sent as nightwatchmen - so, what - if India sends Sachin, then it means we are bold else we are defensive - utter BS

This is how weak and pussy this aussie team is

If Australia is the best team then can any educated Aussie - maybe their uneducated fans may explain - why India is 613-7, while Australia is 577 all out - remember, if Kumble did not declare India will still be batting their first essay

Kumble must go. A lot of people said that he has taken 600 odd wickets and we must respect him. I am not dis-respecting him, but he must go. Dhoni must be made the captain as quickly as possible.
I do agree to the fact, that for all the good quality cricket that India provided V Australia, they are not the dominant force. They do play good cricket though and win good matches and they are,in general, in much better shape than the teams of the past, and with Dhoni, I am sure we will only get better. But unless India plays good cricket against everyone and consistently, we cannot call ourselves dominant. And if anyone cannot understand dominance, please watch a team called Australia for the past 15 years. I do get a bit cheesed off when people say that India is the best! How is it the best? For beating Aus? Then what must Srilanka say? It's a fact that we had a team which had few brilliant individuals and then had a good captain but failed to build a good team around them. And then the captain got hounded out and the same circus as usual. So please make Dhoni the captain, keep Sachin and Laxman for 2 more years and build a team. Then start winning and make atleast half the job as the Australians (and pray that Australians are not so dominant as they were used to), win 1 ODI world cup and another 20/20, then we can call ourselves good. (To call ourselves the Best, we must then best the Australians,ie: Win everything for 15 years or more. Do we have it in us?And we do not even have a good academy.

And I will also go one step further and state the obvious:
Australia were the best for the past 15 years. And they are still good. India were good enough to test and win against Australia for the past 10 years. That's all we did. Nothing more nothing less. And gives me great pleasure that we managed to look AUS in the eye. And I hope India provides tough cricket in the future too because Test cricket must be tough. Sledging, Shaking hands or not shaking hands is a part and parcel and hopefully these skirmishes will go on and spur the players to give us more riveting cricket. This is test match cricket at it's best and India V AUS is the pinnacle. Some will argue that AUS/ENG is the best. So may be Sirs. But since I started watching cricket ENG/AUS never pulled me the same way as AUS/IND and I am the kind who will watch any cricket. (And I lost my first job for playing cricket rather than peddling mobile phone pamphlets).

What rubbish the indians had the game for the taking but could not do it. If the aussies were in that position they would have killed india. India are still rubbish full of arogant prima donnas and selfish. Dhoni captains they win Kumble comes in and they lose. Until India learn to be profesional and take heed what Chappell (G) said they will be just average. Tendu should have retired years ago he cannot even keep hsi concentration to convert 30/40 into 100s. What is it a billion people and cannot find an eleven like the aussie greats......stick to poorly run call centres.....I AM indian born in India BTW
