Middlesborough West Ham match preview CONFIRMED TEAM NEWS

West Ham United: Green. Neill. Collins. Upson. Ilunga. Collison. Faubert. Mullins,
Sears Bellamy Boa Morte
Subs: Walker. Tomkins. Lopez. Bowyer. Etherington. Di Michele. Tristan

Middlesbrough: Turnbull. Wheater. Riggott. Pogatetz. Taylor. Aliadiere. O'Neil.
Digard Downing. Sanli. Alves
Subs: Jones. Hoyte. Emnes. Area. Johnson. Grounds. Mido.

Form

West Ham will be desperate for a win, or at least a share of the spoils, to prevent their losing streak stretching to 5 games.

Middlesborough had an indifferent start to the season, with only wins over Spurs and Stoke at home, along with a win away to Wigan and a draw against Blackburn, but last night's win over Citeh wil have buoyed up both the team and the fans.

History

Last season's 1-2 win, courtesy of a last minute winner from Scott Parker, was our third straight win over Boro, but our first away win at Boro in the EPL. Our only other point came in a 2-2 draw in 2002, when a last gasp Ugo Ehiogu goal snatched a point for Boro.

Team news

Seems Iliunga is also a doubt!

With Cole serving the second game of his ban, West Ham fans will be hoping that Tristan, who is included in the squad, can offer us something in attack. Just 1 goal in 4 is not a great statistic. Behrami is definitely out, and Parker is a big doubt with a calf problem, whilst Neill and James Tomkins are available. Collison, Sears and LBM may be in the mix, following praise from Zola for their contribution on Wednesday.

Mohamed Shawky is out for three weeks with a thigh injury, while Robert Huth may miss out with an ankle problem. Mido and Justin Hoyte may be available for Saturday after training in the week.

Likely outcome

With Boro on a bit of a roll, and West Ham in a bit of a slump, this will be a difficult game for the Hammers to get something out of. Not scoring, and failing to keep a clean sheet, is never the recipe for success, and it is hard to see where the next goal is coming from.

However, as Arsene Wenger doubtlees chuckled into his cornflakes this morning, football's a funny old game, and it's not as though the team as a whole has been playing badly.

A nervy 1-1 draw to steady the ship, with Tristan making an immediate impact (or Ginge getting a lucky flick off his backside, or LBM fainting and the ball going in off his prone form, or a freak gust of wind carrying a Green clearance into the net - come on guys, ANY kind of a goal would do!)

COYI! (and good luck to Boro after Saturday)

Hi Grey, enjoy your previews as ever ok

I'd like to see this team tomorrow:

------- Green -------

Neill - Collins - Upson - Ilunga

Faubert - Collison - Etherington

--------Bellamy--------

-- Tristan -- Sears

A win would of course be very welcome although I think the priority is simply not to lose!

Imo, we need to remember that this is a very steep learning curve for GFZ. He's learning that sometimes it will be necessary to adapt tactics to not not only the team being faced but also the situation his team find themself in. A 5th straight defeat will be a deep hole to climb out of.

I know the opinion about Sears is pretty much split. To me, we have to give the kid a decent chance to prove himself and this means a full half at least. None of this coming on 5 minutes any more (good as that was). Don't forget, Sears very nearly scored at Everton away last year and he and Collison, imo, did very well when they came on mid week.

I think playing Faubert further up the park will reap rewards too, he has shown glimpses of what a great player he is.

I agree with GFZ - I too have complete faith in this set of players and believe we will come good ok

(just need a new right back in January winkeye )

Westside.....Not bad mate!!ok

Against Man u.Faubert certainly showed he's a winger, and not a defender!!...He was soooo out of place,he needs the freedom to move up and down the pitch!!

So Pepsi keeps faith with 4-3-3, this time using Faubert Mullins and Collison in the middle.

Neill reverts to RB - let's see how he deals with Downing.

He will be testing some fans' patience by selecting LBM up top, but some wil be mollified by his giving Sears a start.

I said before the Man U game that I thought LBM might be able to do a 'Cole like' job for us - now we'll see.

Stupidest comment ever! LBM deserves the boo's when you see his wages! Cole like job? We bought Cole from Chelsea Reserves, he was unproven in this league! We bought Boa Morte from Fulham, he was proven in this league! He was the captain their and one of the best Left wingers in the league! Hes just lost it now!

This is a must win game for the hammers today , Boa morte seems to do better away from home these days , however I can see this being a draw.1-1 with Bellamy scoring for the hammers.

I think it's great that Sears has started ok Reckon he will score, too winkeye

Sears knows what he has to do and this is his big chance - GFZ has faith and believe in Sears to be effectice at this level, so let's get behind him and the rest of the team ok

Bit of a surprise this line up, not necessarily a disappointment, just a surprise that Zola's gambling on the youngsters and Tristan is not there but I suspect he'll play before the game is over

It was about time Zola switched back to 4-4-2,as 4-3-3 wasn't working.I was hoping we'd hold on for all 3 points, but at least it's stopped the rot now.

Terrific strike from Hayden. Pity we couldn't hold on for the win.Undone once again by Mido.
Still good confidence boost ahead of Everton who have picked up themselves recently though a little lucky yesterday. Z man, always an Iron!
