Sure he's a footballing legend but he doesn't have anywhere near the experience to manage one of the top international sides in the world. He hasn't been involved in football for years. Bizarre decision if it really is true.

Let's get serious. Argentina will never drop to Englands level.

They were by far the best team in the last world cup and i fully expect them to now win the next world cup with Diego in charge.

1. Diego Maradona
2. Pele
3. Zinedine Zidane

All Diego needs is patience and the ability to impact his ideas. He must realise that not every player is as gifted as he was.

I wish him every luck in his new job.

Well, as an Argentinian, I dont think Argentina is the best team in the World, but we have some great players. Obviously they need a good coach too. For example Basile converted a group of good players in a pathetic team.
Now with Diego (as a motivator), Batista and Bilardo we can improve. But we will be in transition for a pretty long time.

Sorry off topic a little but it's really been bugging me.......

Can someone clarify the difference between coach and manager? Is there a difference or are the BBC articles around "Maradonna appointed as Coach" using lazy language?

My understadning is a coach trains players (skill & fitness) and a manager manages the team and picks the players etc.....

Hasnt got anything to do with England so we dont have a say ! If Argentina critised our choice of manager than we would kick up big time... His managerial record is not great as he has never lasted anywhere - but there is no prouder Argentine than him and he is a god there... so maybe on that he can get through..we just have to wait and see!

He's the greatest player of all time. The players are gonna respect him and work hard. Give him a chance

... let's put a recovering drug addict into one of the most stressful jobs in the world. Sure, that's a good idea. I'll be surprised if Argentina win anything while he's in charge.

He´s been once number one player of the world... He might be number one coach, or not! We all need to wait and see...! What was once then may be again now! Or is anyone feeling nervous out there..? HA!
