Something that both DM and I believe that we have this year compared to last year.

Our Key players are undoubtedly:

Cahill
Yak
Arteta
Lescott

However with the introduction of Fellaini, Catillo & Saha (appreciate I haven't named the other 2 new players) the above players positions are not guaranteed.

Jags can play CB
Leighton Baines LB
Hibbert/Neville/Jacobsen RB
Fellaini/Arteta/Osman CM

etc etc

We can change our 'well known' 4-5-1 formation to allow the above players to move in to different positions and to be a less then 'obvious' team to face.

Castillo can drop in as a dm for us to play 2 upfront with Cahill sat behind to support

Fellaini can be deployed in a 4-4-2

I think that if DM had signed the above the early part of the summer, we wouldn’t have complained as such about our acquisitions.

Looking at it from that perspective we have a stronger team.

What is your perspective on our current squad credentials

Tight-Fitting - Yep exactly, Bolton are a hard side and if we come away with a point I will be pleased but somehow between the feel good factor of getting a draw against the Mancs and the backlash from the Spurs - Bolton clash we could be in for a slapping.

Maybe the fact that Bolton got beaten by the worst team in the league means that Bolton are useless and that THEY could be in for a slapping!

As long as we are defensively tight, flood the midfield (as I said in another article) and use the wings on the counter we could really damage Bolton. They are not doing so well and look half the team since Alardyce.

Cahill definately can't play CM. However with Pienaar & Osman on the wing you have Fellaini and Arteta in the centre.

The optimism isn't just from the Man u match. It's looking at the squad we have, the fact that DM has pledged his (immediate) future to the club.

Howard

Neville Jags Lescott

Yobo

Arteta Fellaini Pienar

Cahill

Saha Yak

I've tried to think of utilising our best players, the formation speaks for itself, Yobo and Fellaini could probably dominate midfield with the help of cahill when needed. Arteta and Pienar used as midfield wingers providing service to Yak and Saha, Cahill on the run into the box. Comments

i'm with the nut on this i'd rather see felliani and teta together in the middle.

Cahill cannot play in a 4man midfield esp against the half decent prem teams as he doesnt offer enough for me.

Playing osman there worries me as well as he is very lightweight

I can't understand why Castillo isn't played more often. From early on, he is the one player who has shown himself capable of replacing Carsley. It only needs for him to fight the urge to go forward, and "buffer" between the midfield and defence.A look back at some earlier games, will show him not slow in helping out at the back.Is 4-1 4-1 too much of a stretch?

I know that Cahill is great and everything but what does he actually bring to the team, other than the odd goal?
